Sampling?[edit]

The guitar riff at the start is from a 70s disco song but I can't remember which. Can anyone help? 86.162.203.2 (talk) 13:06, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Rapper's Delight? The riffs are very similar, but not identical. And it's hop hop, not disco. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Speciallover (talkcontribs) 14:00, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes, and Rapper's Delight sampled the riff from Chic's Good Times (Chic song), which was the disco song I was thinking of.

Amazing how many times that riff has been sampled. I think Jodeci sampled it as well on their song "Alright" in the mid-90s.72.70.98.29 (talk) 04:22, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Rumours[edit]

I've heard in a few places this song is based on katie being raped as a child. Personally listening to the lyrics i can't see it but has it been denied or confirmened by the ting tings anywhere? 92.1.40.120 (talk) 00:23, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

This isn't a forum. Stifle (talk) 11:40, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
What's that to do with this being a forum or not?!? The band possibly saying something about the meaning of the song is clearly important to the article, now ain't it? 78.34.35.166 (talk) 08:33, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Above is a chronological listing of the weeks this song spent on the Billboard Hot 100. It affirms the change I made to the song's debut date, as well as its peak position and peak date a week later. There was no May 13, 2008 issue of Billboard; the song debuted on May 17, 2008. Reference #8 is a broken link, and should be replaced by the list I've presented above.
