Timeline and notes[edit]

He was the owner of two mines Ynys and Rhydydefaid in Clyne Valley, Swansea.
Morris was one of the businessmen involved in the development of the Swansea and Mumbles Railway.
In 1768, Morris decided to build a planned village for the workers of his copper factories, this village developed into the town of Morriston.
He was also responsible for the financing of the building of Morris Castle.
In 1775, Morris built Clasemont to be his home near Morriston.
John Morris was made a baronet in April 1806
Sir John Morris had as son who was also called John Morris (who became 2nd Baronet of Clasemont).
Sir John Morris died on February 24, 1855
