The TE Lawrence article says his mothers surname was Junner and both his parents took the name Lawrence? Oh and nice article! Victuallers (talk) 23:24, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Victuallers. T. E. Lawrence's mother was also illegitimate. Although she was registered at birth as Junner, which was the name of her mother, she arrived as the Chapmans' governess under the name of Lawrence, which is believed to be her father's name. Sarah Junner Lawrence

[edit]

Sarah Junner Lawrence is described as a "cheerful young Scotswoman" but further on is said to have been born in Sunderland which is in Co. Durham. I don't see verification for either claim. Any thoughts ?

I have now removed 'Scotswoman'; see Lawrence's family history, from Jeremy Wilson, Lawrence of Arabia: The Authorised Biography of T. E. Lawrence, Appendix 1 here. Junner appears a mix of Welsh, English and Scottish descent. Nedrutland (talk) 11:42, 7 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Chapman's daughters

[edit]

Did none of the daughters get married? 42.107.84.17 (talk) 22:14, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Discrepancy concerning daughters

[edit]

Under the "Descendants" subhead, it says Chapman had four daughters, but these are his legitimate daughters by his wife, not all of his daughters. Earlier in the article, it said that of his nine Lawrence children, five sons and one daughter survived infancy. The names of the five Lawrence sons, as well as some biographical details, are provided, but nothing at all about their sister, the Lawrence daughter. If anyone has this information, please add something about her. 2600:100A:B1E4:F2F4:0:2D:99C7:AB01 (talk) 09:28, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
