Both articles are about the same establishment/place. One is new, and should not have been created but has a lot of new content so it should be merged with the older article. FeralOink (talk) 08:58, 29 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

At one time there were three pages. I merged "Great Escape" to this page, however that may have been a mistake. I was going by what the logo indicates, but I'm not sure where this logo came from. The park seems to call itself Great Escape — A Six Flags Theme Park, more often than it uses Six Flags Great Escape. The logo that is more often in use — not the one on this page — words it that way too. The lodge and indoor waterpark is usually referred to as Six Flags Lodge and Indoor Waterpark, but the outdoor complex is more often referred to as The Great Escape and Splashwater Kingdom but as of this year it has adopted the moniker The Great Escape and Hurricane Harbor. If the Lodge and Indoor Waterpark is separate from the Amusement Park and outdoor waterpark, then the pages should probably not be merged. My understanding is that the lodge is across the street from the park and it is open all year, while the theme park/outdoor waterpark are seasonal. Admission to the indoor waterpark and the theme park is included with a lodge stay but those not staying at the lodge need to purchase a day ticket. However, the day ticket to the waterpark will not get you into the theme park and a day ticket to the theme park includes the outdoor waterpark but does not include the indoor waterpark at the lodge. If they are physically separated and require different admissions then the pages should probably not be merged. To me, they are two separate entities. We can look at the articles on Cedar Point for a similar situation. Cedar Point, Breakers Hotel and Castaway Bay are all separate articles.
However, we do need to decide on the correct name for this park and this page. I don't think this current name and the logo shown on the page are correct. It should probably be renamed again to The Great Escape and Hurricane HarborJlACEer (talk) 16:07, 29 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, JlACEer. I agree with your renaming and merging suggestions. Thank you so much for being prompt and thorough!--FeralOink (talk) 09:33, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Comment – I agree with JlACEer's sentiments for the most part. I would only throw in the caveat that another factor to consider is notability. If the entities are truly separate, we also need to make sure that there is enough content and topic significance for each entity to have its own article. Otherwise if one doesn't pass this litmus test, it can instead exist as a passing mention (a few sentences or a single paragraph) in a sister article and not necessarily need its own. Once this discussion is closed, please ping me to the follow-up discussion regarding how to rename these, thanks! --GoneIn60 (talk) 16:56, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Comment I agree that the name of the article should be changed to The Great Escape and Hurricane Harbor, to fit with the new name of the water park.
The lodge on the other hand is a resort to the theme park, that is branded with the Six Flags name. The theme park itself is not. To me if the resort has enough merit and significance to be its own article, as it should. If there was multiple lodges/Six Flags hotels, could be set up like the Great Wolf Resorts or Kalahari Resorts, but since its a lone property, it can be more specific about the lodge and the water park. I guess there could be a case to merge or create something to include Six Flags Darien Lake hotel and camp site on the page with the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge.--Jpp858 (talk) 13:27, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@GoneIn60:I've uploaded what I think is the correct Great Escape Logo. This has been pending since April and no one has opposed a move. Can we go ahead and move this page to "The Great Escape & Hurricane Harbor" or do we need to open a different discussion for a proposed move? Note the use of an ampersand instead of the word "and."JlACEer (talk) 18:10, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

As there has been no discussion concerning the move in almost a full year, and no one seemed to be in favor, I suggest we remove the merge proposal banner.JlACEer (talk) 01:56, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Closing merge proposal, given the lack of support. @GoneIn60: you might want to think about the names now. Klbrain (talk) 13:49, 21 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Upcharge Attractions[edit]

Shouldn't the upcharge attractions be listed under the specific area they reside in and not in a separate section? I'd be happy to update to keep this in line with other amusement park/Six Flags articles. 20:27, 23 November 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eye4ThemeParks (talkcontribs)

Kidzopolis/Wiggles World[edit]

Should these be listed under former attractions? Wouldn't it make more sense to list the specific rides in these areas? Eye4ThemeParks (talk) 20:48, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Done I added that names of the former rides and attractions that were in the former Wiggles World/Kidzopolis area of Six Flags Great Escape. They were the Krazy Kars, the Krazy Kups and the Splish Splash Zone. The Island Air Adventures used to be in that section, but ended up becoming a part of Hurricane Harbor after it was completed and is the only remaining ride from the former Kidzopolis section that is still standing. Official name change?[edit]

Recent edits, along with skimming the official site and a few news articles, seem to indicate that the park's current title is Six Flags Great Escape. That's all that appears in the logo, for example. So should we change "The" to "Six Flags" and should Hurricane Harbor be dropped from the title? Thoughts? --GoneIn60 (talk) 19:49, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:COMMONNAME, I would say that would fit as "Six Flags Great Escape". If not, change to "Six Flags Great Escape and Hurricane Harbor" as it is less commonly known. Adog (TalkCont) 13:02, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Adog, thanks. Does anyone know if the official name has indeed been changed/updated? I see the shorthand mentioned in a couple news articles, and of course we have the logo, but I'm not seeing any general PR announcements that confirm the change (or when it occurred). JlACEer, thoughts? --GoneIn60 (talk) 16:44, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Same here! I haven't seen any press releases or announcements, nor any reports from news sources, just the sudden logo change. I may contact some of my friends at SF corporate to see if they can provide any details.JlACEer (talk) 19:31, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That would be awesome! Hopefully they can point to something that's been published so we can use it. Thanks! --GoneIn60 (talk) 01:19, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think we should update it Eg224 (talk) 04:45, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm leaning that way as well. JlACEer, any luck reaching out to your contacts? --GoneIn60 (talk) 11:18, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
