Is this song really about a girl having an abortion? Me and my sister always thought it was about an Asian girl eloping with the singer and her parents strong disapproval (him being White, her being Asian -- most Asians don't approve of interracial relationships). Seriously, I'd have never thought it was about an abortion. Why sigh, cutie pie? 08:25, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes I think so, look it up on google etc. Apparently the band said in an interview it was - also for a general opinion of the song look it up on songmeanings.net . I'll try and find it soon. Removed the reference to Dido's song, as this page is about the Goo Goo Dolls' Single. Added it to the disambiguation page. :) Srxcef 17:24, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You should site those sources in the article

  • I was watching a free concert shown on DirectTV a few months back and could have sworn the band said the song was about a girl who had gotten pregnant and whether or not she should marry the guy or simply run away, not an abortion. The lyrics don't seem to imply an abortion either, except perhaps the line "don't you love the life you've killed," but I had always assumed that was more of a reference to a pregnancy "killing" someone's old way of life. • Yeah, you're just about correct. On VH1's storytellers, Rzeznik talked briefly about the meaning of the song before the band performed it. The abortion idea isn't really central to the song (just one of the options the couple consider), but it's in there since he mentioned it specifically, so it gets on the page. 59.167.104.81 03:36, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Goo Goo Dolls Slide.jpg[edit]

Elmo?[edit]

"An alternative version called "Pride" has been recorded with Elmo from Sesame Street providing additional vocals. It uses the same music, but has different lyrics."

Is this a joke? If it is, it's funny, but doesn't belong here. 68.197.176.202 (talk) 01:35, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

– "Slide" is by The Goo Goo Dolls. Also China (the footballer) was born in 1982. Another reason I'm requesting this is to help people avoid confusion with two footballers also called China born in 1980 and 1964. 174.29.75.144 (talk) 02:19, 6 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Speedy procedural close two completely unrelated articles. Discussing them together is highly inappropriate. -- 70.51.200.101 (talk) 04:11, 6 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
