2. The equation mentioned in the FCC part is invalid. b can't both equal a/2 and a/sqrt(2). Possibly the author meant there are 2 slipsystems active. One with b = a/2 and one with b = a/sqrt(2). Not sure though. --Aphexer 15:26, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
- In this case, as per the definition of the burgers vector, |b| = (a/2)*|<110>|. It is not a typo. Note that the straight brackets represent the magnitude of a vector. b is the burgers vector and <110> is a direction vector with a magnitude of . So: |b| = Aimlessdrive (talk) 13:32, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
