A lot of water under the bridge with respect to the external links. However, there is a clear problem with respect to user 63.198.13.10, which is obvious if you take a look at his history. At time of posting the current links now seem to be fine, but for how long? This is a competitive arena and he and others tend to add and delete links for their own reasons.

I wonder about SK's mission here. He deletes perfectly good references and seems answerable to no-one. No problem though: he's bored me away from the wiki, so he wins.

There are quite a few other "Small business forums", so why yours? Wikipedia is not a web directory, so while I don't question that your forum might be a good discussion forum for small business owners, it's not Wikipedia's task to keep track of those forums. "So why yours?" - can you actually read? I stated clearly in the summary that it wasn't mine. I added it back because it is a decent uncluttered forum which I have posted to. Meanwhile, 63.198.13.10 appears again with real spam, for the hundredth time with his smartbiz link, which you seem awfully tolerant of. As I said above, I added one link to a good resource and get this from someone who is clearly small minded and very sad. Have happy wiki because I won't be back with the likes of you around.

Wiki has offered some information, and I have found information Wiki might be interested in as well which would change the definition of a "small business". I am offering this information in hope that someone will revise the current small business article.

This website defines what exactly a small business is and falls under the requirements of the SBA (Small Business Association). When compared, the Wiki definition of a small business consists of about 100 employees; however, the examples given at this website are as much as 1,500 employees. This number clearly exceeded even the definition of the Wiki "mid-sized business".

According to the SBA a small business is classified in one of two ways, gross sales in millions or number of employees. see table [2]

For most industries a small business has less the 500 employees and or does less then $6.5 million in sales. Some industries are still a small business when there is as many as 1,500 employees or as much as $32.51 million in sales or as much as $165 million in assets.

The main article should be clarified to reflect one of these sources and remove the other definitions, in addition other related articles should also be updated to have the best definition of what a small business is. - so which of the above mentioned sorces are we going to use?photodude (talk) 20:14, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

This needs a total Wiki makeover

The "Small business" page is missing a tremendous amount of key information and resources; and much of what's here is outdated, inaccurate, incomplete or off topic. If nobody objects, I'll take a stab at rewriting it. I've been covering small business as a journalist, editor, columnist, author and publisher for 20 years; named "2008 Small Business Journalist of the Year" by the U.S. Small Business Administration (Los Angeles district), and have about as much experience in this area as anybody. Statistics?

No statistics available on the spread scale and 'scope'? How many? How many employed, on average, what percentage of the overall economy do they constitute?

Starting in the literature

A good start in the literature is Hamilton's 2000 article Does Entrepreneurship Pay? An Empirical Analysis of the Returns to Self‐Employment. Look this up in Google Scholar; there are a few hundred articles citing it which discuss small business research. II | (t - c) 05:46, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

Going through the resources cited from SBA.gov - they're not credible and lead nowhere, especially not to facts. There's a serious lack of statistics on this page AND very outdated information in regard to the SBA's February 2012 press release that states changes in regulation sizes for 37 industries. Furthermore there is no umbrella definition provided here, at least not a credible one.
