Proposing major improvements (March 2023)[edit]

Hello, I am a soil scientist participating in a course taught by Wiki Education on how to edit Wikipedia. I am planning to improve this article by adding a sections for Background (on the history of soil description) and Properties and Procedure (with subsections of horizonation, texture, color, structure, etc.). I will condense some of the great information already written here about soil horizons and texture, since they already have their own Wikipedia pages (and I will add those links).

I have two proposals for other existing content:

1. Move the 'Micromorphology' section to the end, and include the 'micromorphology in archaeology' content as a subsection.
2. Remove the Soil Formation section. Morphology and Pedogenesis are separate topics and have their own pages, and such detailed soil formation content clearly belongs on the Pedogenesis page (or even Pedology) instead.

Are any editors regularly viewing this page, and if so, is there any opposition to my proposed edits? I am passionate about both soil science and Wikipedia, so I am excited to begin contributing. --Glossic-hapludalf (talk) 08:07, 16 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
