[edit]

In 2020, Every remaining SN channel branded "Spectrum News" was officially rebranded as "Spectrum News 1" and moved to channel 1. The logos were changed too, and the official SN Austin website calls itself Spectrum News 1. Logo actually used on page is outdated on itself, since the silver/yellow logo was discontinued in 2017 across all channels. The channel was also switched to 1 (the meaning of "1" in Spectrum News 1) Jkrosado (talk) 14:58, 8 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Does News 8 float your boat? I can't get enough of it.

I don't believe that this type of talk belongs on a Wikipedia article talk page, but I echo your statement. Oh, and please remember to use your four tildes (~~~~) when on a talk page. WBHoenig 02:31, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Erica Riggins[edit]

Just to note, for those who loved watching former News 8 anchor, Erica Riggins; she has been with Bay News 9 since 2005. I heard that she did an excellent job of anchoring the News 8 newscasts and did lots of wonderful reporting. Not to mention the awards she won. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Wslupecki (talkcontribs) 17:47, 8 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

May not be a legitimate news outlet[edit]

The site does not behave as a legitimate news outlet. For example, there are stories on Ron Paul almost every day, often the same (old) story repeated every day for weeks on end, long after it is no longer news.

A Google smackdown reveals that stories about Ron Paul outnumber stories about Romney, Gingrich, Santorum, or Obama by a factor of 10 to 1. This does not square with a legitimate news source. The 2012 presidential primaries are winding down as of April, 2012, and it is clear that Romney will be the Republican candidate, while Paul has no reasonable chance of winning either the primary or the general election.

Given the bias, the Austin newsroom would appear to have been seized by Paul zealots. Their editorial policy excludes fair or balanced coverage of, e.g., the 2012 presidential race. Hence, not a legitimate outlet. I had assumed it was simply a libertarian front and was surprised to learn it was supposed to be Time-Warner, from which I would have expected at least some effort at balance.

RESPONSE: YNN Austin IS in fact a legitimate news organization and focuses heavily on political coverage with it's politcal show, Capital Tonight. The political team prides itself in contextual, local, balanced coverage. It is true that during the primary season, more focus was placed on Rick Perry and Ron Paul, and for good reason. YNN Austin is a local news organization and two politicans from Texas were running for president. You will also notice that YNN Austin is one of the ONLY local stations devoting resources to comprehensive coverage of the 2012 Republican and Democratic national conventions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.153.226.68 (talk) 21:44, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
