I started this article because clearly McKelway should be represented at Wikipedia. A number of the facts in the first paragraph came from the dust jacket blurb for True Tales from the Annals of Crime & Rascality. I trust the source, but I couldn't see referencing it. Or should I? If you think so, any thoughts on the appropriate format? Jbening (talk) 04:00, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Photograph

[edit]

I am almost certain the photograph featured in this article is not that of St. Clair McKelway who died in 1980 and bears no resemblance to other photos of McKelway available on the internet. The photo used is from the early age of photography and shows a man who is old in the 1920s or earlier. Hubertgrove (talk) 15:35, 14 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch--that appears to be another St. Clair McKelway from an earlier era ([1] Jbening (talk) 23:32, 15 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like the problem is with an image on Wikimedia Commons of the older SCM that is tagged as depicting the younger SCM. Something about the infobox code and/or authority control on this bio page causes that inappropriate photo to be propagated to this page. I've pointed out the problem on the Wikimedia Commons page and hopefully it will be fixed. I looked for a public-domain photo of the younger SCM without success.Jbening (talk) 03:12, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
