Doesn't seem to merit a stand-alone article as of yet. Moorlock (talk) 15:09, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It is a warning on the extinction of our own species signed by hundreds of their most influential individuals. Is it not enough to merit an article in an encyclopedia? Shouldn't we document our last steps? 139.47.115.24 (talk) 16:02, 2 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think it certainly merits a paragraph or perhaps a subsection of Existential risk from artificial general intelligence. Moorlock (talk) 17:06, 2 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There have been a wide variety of reactions to the statement which the article could discuss. It could take a while to go through all the news articles about the statement and expand the article with such coverage, but it could be worthwhile. Enervation (talk) 23:24, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If there is a lengthy discussion on public reception, it's probably better not to merge this article and to do it here. Existential risk from artificial general intelligence#Perspectives is already pretty long, and I would personally prefer to condense and organize the meaning than to add more opinions. But it's ok to detail here. Alenoach (talk) 22:57, 17 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. Enervation (talk) 23:38, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose merge - This letter was and is a significant event in the history of AI, a major call for caution having immediate impact, as well as ripple effects we are still seeing, like yesterday's Senate bipartisan AI Insight Forum which was attended by some of the very persons who signed this letter. It stands strongly and proudly on its own—that is, it is notable, and therefore deserves its own article. So, naturally, someone created a stub, and it will grow organically as articles are intended to on Wikipedia. Please do not bury it in a huge more general article. Sincerely,    — The Transhumanist   08:27, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Shorter title?

[edit]

Am I missing something? Isn't the title "Statement on AI Risk". That's at the top of the page. It seems like only wp is using this longer title? 1Veertje (talk) 11:21, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
