Pakistan shoot-downs[edit]

I reworded the sentence because PAF involvement in Afghanistan was controversial and I doubt anyone can provide definitive data. Soviet pilots, restricted by rules of engagement to stay at least 10 km from the Pakistani border and prohibited from firing in the direction of Pakistan, claimed that PAF would routinely fire across the border at Soviet aircraft operating in the Afghani airspace as well as make incursions into Afghanistan (Markovskiy, see article for complete reference). I'm sure PAF would disagree and claim innocence. Hence I tried to make the statement more neutral. - Emt147 Burninate! 20:07, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

3-view[edit]

Can anybody provide a 3-view of the Su-17M4/Su-22M4? The current 3-view is clearly not -- judging by the short nose, no missile pylons, and no ram scoop on the tail it's a Su-17M2 or a Su-22 (the rear fuselage looks a little fat but I don't know it this is artist error or supposed to represent the Su-22 with the larger R-29 engine). - Emt147 Burninate! 23:39, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If it will be usefull I could change data of dimensions with 1 mm acuracy for Su-22M4K ((for instant total length is 19,026 m, on pl-wiki we've got them from orginal instruction of Su-22 published by our AF) Radomil talk 00:06, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Within 2 units is plenty for encyclopedia IMHO. :) - Emt147 Burninate! 01:53, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Copy Editing[edit]

This page appears to be translated from another language, and therefore has the standard grammatical problems that come from such a switch. I hope to do a copy-edit as soon as I have some more time. Otherwise, this is a pretty darn good article. Thanks! Dpenn89 (talk) 06:22, 8 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have updated the armament section, based on the Hungarian version of the page : http://hu.wikipedia.org/wiki/Szu%E2%80%9322. The data should be accurate as Hungary has used some 15 Su22M-s for 15 years. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.2.124.43 (talk) 07:24, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Question on the map of users showing North Korea as a user.[edit]

The map of current users shows North Korea as a current user/operator of the type, but they are not mentioned in the text. Should the map be amended, or should NK be added as a current operator? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 196.215.182.85 (talk) 19:05, 6 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that Israel shot down a Su-24 (NATO: Fencer) and not a Syrian Su-22 Fitter — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.172.78.3 (talk) 03:56, 26 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation of "Су"[edit]

There is a common misconception about how Russian aircraft are supposed to be pronounced. The "Su" in Sukhoi aircraft is not an acronym. It is Су from Russian transliterated into English. As such, this aircraft along with all other Sukhoi aircraft with Су in their aircraft designation are pronounced like "sue" in English. Note that all the aircraft pages have an uppercase S and a lowercase u. That's not standard for how acronyms are used anywhere in English so I don't know why some of you think this is a special case. It's not. It's pronounced Su just like how it's spelled. By Russian convention it is an abbreviation of the manufacturer. They pronounce it like they would the first part of the full word. Not S.U. If you want to claim it's actually an acronym what does it even stand for? If you can't even come up with an explanation stop reverting my correct edits.24.233.97.244 (talk) 13:17, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
