Major Archbishop vs. Patriarch

[edit]

His title is Major Archbishop, and that's a fact. That's what all of the sources say, and it's what the half dozen Wikipedia articles about him in other languages that I looked at also say (including the Ukrainian, which consistently refers to him as "Major Archbishop." Perhaps (if we have a source for it), the article can mention that many of his faithful like to refer to him as "Patriarch," but when the article itself quotes him saying that he leaves the decision about the title of "Patriarch" to the Pope (quote in the article: "we are conscious that the decision about the patriarchate belongs to the Holy Father and we would never press him") and the Pope has (as yet) still declined to grant it, Wikipedia has no business getting ahead of the curve here. I'm removing all references in the article to him as "Patriarch." LacrimosaDiesIlla (talk) 16:18, 4 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Why am I now seeing "Patriarch" in this Wikipedia article??? Carlm0404 (talk) 08:41, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
