SwarmCast software (GNU GPL)[edit]

This page is mainly about the SwarmCast company, whose technology played an important role in the evolution of both commercial online video streaming and P2P media distribution, spinning off from OpenCola as an independent company in 2001[1] two years before the BitTorrent company was founded. When that happened the SwarmCast software was released under the GNU GPL (see previous ref). Would be good to have more information about that software, either on this page or on its own page; where the code was released (SourceForge[2]), where technical documentation can be found (there's some technical docs on the OpenCola site[3]), whether its still under active use or development and so on. Sadly, secondary sources seem scarce. Danylstrype (talk) 03:04, 25 April 2017 (UTC)

Dead external link[edit]

The link to the SwarmCast homepage is dead. The last scrape by the Wayback Machine was in Jan, 2010[1]. Danylstrype (talk) 03:04, 25 April 2017 (UTC)
