Distant Signal aspects

[edit]

What are the distant signal aspects:

  • caution - two greens??
  • clear - flashing white??

Tabletop (talk) 07:46, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Flashing white: expect clear. Flashing green: expect stop. Flashing 2 green: expect 40. -- Kildor (talk) 09:03, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Resembles original 1830 signals: red=stop, green=caution, white=clear! Tabletop (talk) 22:53, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The light signals are the night aspects of the German-inspired semaphores, with the distant signals merged into them. Sweden was one of the few places where the RGW system was not dropped for the RYG system. GorfGnome (talk) 02:56, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

The Swedish version of this page has much higher-quality scalable images. Would it be worthwhile to switch to using those on the English version as well? GorfGnome (talk) 02:58, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely! --Kildor (talk) 09:50, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I've done some preliminary work with the high quality SVGs, but I'm not too sure about the look of the frames. Perhaps some slight rearrangement of the home signal section? I like the way the Swedish version is set out, with the images aligned left-to-right in a table, but the bullet point description of what the signals indicate is less clear. Which layout looks clearer to peoples? GorfGnome (talk) 14:27, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I prefer the layout as it is in the Swedish article. --Kildor (talk) 21:04, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Righteo, the English version has been updated to include the Swedish layout, and I've also updated the Distant Signal section. I removed the headings for each aspect as existed on the original English version, as these seemed to add too much visual clutter. GorfGnome (talk) 08:06, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Very good! I will update some of the text to reflect recent changes in the Swedish railway regulations. --Kildor (talk) 22:07, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
