AT&T date[edit]

This article references the company being put under the control of AT&T in 1909. The article about AT&T lists it's own founding date as 1983 though!— Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.50.174.245 (talk) 04:22, 2 February 2012‎ (UTC)

Wrong AT&T. That confusion is being rectified by the proposed renaming of the article to AT&T (2005), which was created through the break up of AT&T into AT&T and the seven baby bells, one of which (the smallest) grew big enough to buy the original AT&T, and immediately changed its name from Southwestern Bell to AT&T.
