Notability[edit]

This page should be deleted as it informs people of a new show called: the Only Way Is Essex...like any other programme it will have a wikepedia article e.g The HillS. Therfore this page should not be deleted as it is information about a T.V show, which does not already have a wikepedia article. (Shahirmihad (talk) 17:13, 11 October 2010 (UTC))[reply]

So you want to delete the article because it will have an article but it doesn't already have an article (bear in mind this is a discussion on the article that exists)? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.149.39.198 (talk) 21:02, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Mindfuck..
I see what you mean about the above it does not make sense. I think that it is extremely important to see how others live. Especially when they are given a negative label. I was extremely interested in the series and cannot wait to see the next season. I was very interested in what mark said "I dont know anyone who has a better life than I do" That is a very confident thing to say, especially when he does not know how others live and what makes others happy. I dont think this show should be deemed negative, did shameless get a 'negative' response probably in the first instance but people realise that our little island has many different cities and towns and these towns have many different groups which have been labelled. To have a knee jerk reaction is good but that quick response can damage. We are only seeing the true side of our island. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.147.77.149 (talk) 00:33, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It shows how thick essex people are? Really, shouldnt this be deleted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.146.43.90 (talk) 21:46, 3 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There is absolutely no reason why The Only Way Is Essex page should be deleted. It is a reality show, just like: The Hills, The Real Housewvies, Big Brother and many more. Almost all popular shows ahve their own Wikepedia page.

Tend to agree with OP. The subject is of minor notability and reads as if it has been largely written by the original producers for purposes of self-promotion. I would therefore second deletion or at least heavy reduction. Self promotion would be less of a concern if there were a more open discussion of the genre - see point 4. Cdh1001 (talk) 11:24, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

While potentially minor, the show has [a BAFTA award] and has been mentioned [the BBC]. American rough equivalents would be winning an Oscar and a mention in the New York Times gossip pages. The subject itself is notable, regardless of page content. --Freeone3000 (talk) 03:31, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This file is the title screen image currently used in the infobox. The discussion is here. postdlf (talk) 03:41, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Paloma[edit]

Amy's assistant, Paloma, should be included in the table listing the Supporting cast members. She has numerous speaking parts and makes regular appearances in Season 2. She is certainly more notable than some of the other supporting cast members who appear in that list. Deterence Talk 08:17, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Genre explanation[edit]

I've just read the whole article, & am almost no wiser ~ or even more knowledgeable. What is this series? What is it about? We are told it is a semi-reality ("dramality") show based in Essex which shows "real people in modified situations, saying unscripted lines but in a structured way"; what is all that supposed to mean? Modified situations? Dramality? Structured unscripted lines? As someone who has no access to television, who has never seen this show, i come here to learn about it and...? Can we add a bit more meat to this article, please? Cheers, LindsayHello 18:16, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I also came here to understand what these new reality shows are, are they real or fake? This article is unhelpful in its current form. 2.28.185.145 (talk) 13:12, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thirded. After almost a year this page is still woefully inadequate in explaining what exactly the show is, or how it works. The production segment is just a repetition of what is in the lede. And there is no further expansion on the brief mention of the fact it is unscripted but manufactured. This needs to be fully explained by someone who has knowledge of the series in the production section, if nowhere else. I came knowing nothing of the program and i have left none the wiser. Walker Slake (talk) 06:17, 14 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fourthed. This is easily one of the worst Wiki articles I've ever read. Can no one who's watched the show clearly explain what it is, or is it so truly awful it's destroying people's minds? Optimus Sledge (talk) 23:57, 13 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank god--I'm not the only one? This may be the least informative article I've seen on Wikipedia. Could someone please provide a hint of what this show is about?Cactus Wren (talk) 20:22, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Another one to add to the list. I admit I only skimmed the article but it seems to have a huge amount of detail on when and where each series/episode was filmed, who was in it, when it first aired, when it was/will be repeated etc. etc. and absolutely nothing on what it is they're actually filming. Is it a documentary style program following some randoms from Essex in their everyday life? Is it something like Big Brother where they put people into artificial situations and film their reactions? Is it something like Miami Ink - a show about various businesses and the people behind them with far too much emphasis on personal "drama" between them? (The last one seems the most likely to me given that one of the only helpful sections lists various businesses are featured on the show and which "actors"/participants own them, but it's really not clear at all.) I think what this article needs is one or more people who watch the show to imagine they're describing it to someone who has never heard of it before and write that as a new lead/introductory section. 82.68.159.246 (talk) 13:59, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Further support for this point. As is stands, the article is not fit for inclusion in Wikipedia - too little description and too much promotion. However, it could be worthy of retention if it were heavily edited to explain what the 'scripted reality' genre entails - this is of greater notability than the cast list and list of events. Cdh1001 (talk) 11:27, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's junk television. But it has to be included because some people do watch this crap. Wythy (talk) 18:24, 7 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Vajazzle?[edit]

Vajazzle redirects here, but the article contains no mention. Gronky (talk) 22:19, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

TOWIE pronunciation[edit]

Telling us that TOWIE is pronounced 'towie' is not a big help, is it? Ask David Bowie.109.158.129.217 (talk) 18:42, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Jessica Wright[edit]

The link for Jessica Wright takes you to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jessica_Wright seems ok then " Jessica Wright is the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs at the United States Department of Defense.[1] She was previously the Adjutant General of Pennsylvania for the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.[2][3]" think they could be different people!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.113.25.223 (talk) 14:04, 2 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ages[edit]

Where is the evidence for the cast ages listed on this page? Can we have some references please? — Preceding unsigned comment added by ScienceLion (talkcontribs) 21:36, 19 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in The Only Way Is Essex[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of The Only Way Is Essex's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 02:46, 3 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
