Another Smash!!! vs. The Ventures

According to my edition of Whitburn's Billboard albums, "Another Smash!!!" charted in June, 1961 peaking at #39, and "The Ventures" charted in September 1961, peaking at #105. Since "smash" is #8006, and "ventures" is #8004, evidently on initial release "ventures" didn't chart initially. Or is there a mistake in Whitburn? Can someone double-check this? Otherwise I'm going to switch the charting positions. Thanks! 78.26 (talk) 18:22, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

This is not a mistake in Whitburn. I checked the Billboard issue for Sep 18, 1961 (online scan). It shows "Another Smash!!!" (Dolton 8006) is #79 in its 13th week, and The Ventures (Dolton 8004) is making its debut at #149. It is puzzling. PatConolly (talk) 08:12, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

The second album (Dolton 8004) was released by February 1961. The February 4 issue of Cash Box has a review of the album, and it made the album chart two weeks later. Why it didn't get listed in Billboard for another 7 months is sure a mystery. Anyway I changed the dates of those two albums. PatConolly (talk) 08:59, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

This is not the easest to do. Missing : Adventures in Paradise [also known as "White Album"]; Limited Edition LP: Ventures BG101 - 1965 Running Strong; LP: Sunset SUS5116 - 7/1966 U.S. Navy Presents; Limited Edition LP: U.S. Navy - 196? Many Japanese release.

Erroned information : Golden Greats; LP: Liberty LST8053 - 9/1967 [#50 - Gold]. Compilation but track 3 : Rebel Rouser is unpublished before. The Versatile Ventures; LP: Liberty SCR-5 - 1967. Compilation but track 1 : The 2,000 Pound Bee - Part 1; track 2 : Skip to M'Limbo; track 9 : Ten Seconds to Heaven; track 10 : The Chase are unpublished before.
