Not Supposed To Be Here![edit]

You are not supposed to be posting anything from Season 12 and beyond. This artical will surely be deleted unless you can provide a decent reference. Diesel 10 10:06, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There was a ref on the Season 11 page (you may need to look at early history) regarding Pierce Brosnan and 'future series'. Beyond that I can't believe that anything can be written about this series yet. Hence, page deletion may not be an option, I'm afraid, but you should be able to ditch anything that's unreferenced... Confirmation[edit]

I have written to HiT Entertainment and I recieved confirmation that Duck and Oliver will appear in S12 those are the returning characters confirmed so far. For Wikiproject Thomas --S.C.Ruffeyfan 16:11, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That will be welcome news to many Thomas fans. Unfortunately, a personal email is not good enough to claim as a Reliable Source, so we must maintain a hard line until we can provide a cite for this information. Standby for another raft of speculative edits about Duck and Oliver...
EdJogg 16:23, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Um.... A copyright email (example, HIT Entertainment) isn't a reliable source? TobytheTramEngine (talk) 01:02, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think that counts as a 'primary source', and WP is not supposed to use them. There is also the problem of accessibility (to the information): as the email has not been 'published', no-one else can see it to confirm any claims made in the article, relying on that source. If HIT sent the email to a newspaper, and they chose to print it, THAT would be OK to cite, since the newspaper is a secondary source. Please don't take my word for it though (I'm no expert!), I'm sure there are help pages on WP that can resolve this for you.
Good luck. EdJogg (talk) 03:27, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This website shows new characters confirmed for Season 12. I'll be happy to put then up if you say so. --Thejdogman (talk) 09:07, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't it depressing how 'Thomas' is now viewed from a commercial viewpoint? Some of this cite could well be used in the 'Merchandise' article (or elsewhere).
Yes, feel free to add the new information, remembering to cite this website. If we get in first we can better control the quality of the edits!
EdJogg (talk) 10:35, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
We should put this on the page. I have a feeling that Flora the Tram Engine might be like Rosie and idolise Thomas, but she might idolise Toby. We need to find some promo pics later this year. Hank the Big American Engine might boast a bit and Colin the Crane might be like Rocky. NOTE: I am not prancing around being false. I just think this. Check the web for updates, people. --S.C.Ruffeyfan 19:37, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Let's add the info. I'm now very excited about S12. SLJCOAAATR 1 (talk) 22:25, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Excuse me if I remain un-excited by the news... :o)
Before you all get carried away, remember that only verifiable, referenced information should be added here. That way we can safely hack-and-burn any fan speculation that escapes from the forums...
Also remember that 'promo pictures' are likely to remain copyright of HIT, and, if you read the referenced article, they are unlikely to release anything into the public domain...
EdJogg (talk) 00:59, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, i don't see why people like these would lie about it. I think the info. should be added into he article.SLJCOAAATR 1 (talk) 21:51, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I added the infomation in and I'm sorry that it's a bit messy so you can fix it up. --Thejdogman (talk) 11:03, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done. I have changed the names to match the format used in the ref, as we cannot be certain what 'official' names might be applied.
NOTE - as for previous seasons, these characters should NOT be added to other pages until the programmes have been broadcast and it is possible to verify that the characters actually exist. Please watch out for (and remove) such edits on other pages.
EdJogg (talk) 13:56, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, if we don't add them to character pages, some people may believe them to be spam, and remove it. Hank,Flora,Stanley should be added to the page with the SG engines, while, Colin is hard call cause we've had road cranes, train cranes, normal cranes, etc. We don't know which he'll be but untill, we do, he should be added to the non-rail section. Does anyone agree?SLJCOAAATR 1 (talk) 14:12, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You cannot add them to a character page because you don't know anything about them. They may be standard or narrow gauge, or neither! And, as you point out, you have no idea what sort of crane Colin is. No-one will believe them to be 'spam' if they stay on this page, with the reference to allow the reader to verify that what we have written is true. That is why we have references.
If you start adding these characters to the character pages, other editors will be quite justified in removing them as 'fan speculation' (or, as you put it, 'spam').

Possible Character Confirmations[edit]

With the release of Smudger, Proteus, and Isabella in wodden, and re-release of Duke, there's a good chance that these characters may appear in S12.[1] Skeletal S.L.J.C.O.A.A.A.T.R. 14:15, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think they're being re-released because of this year's video releases. Isabella was on the cover of the Mud, Glorious Mud video and I believe Rusty to the Rescue is being reissued, which would explain Duke and Smudger. I'm assuming that "The Magic Lamp" is on one release if they're making Proteus. I think they reissued Daisy, Toad, and Derek a while back for similar reasons. Starkiller (talk) 15:08, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe. We must wait and see. Trainboy8 (talk) 16:37, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

eddie?[edit]

One of the episodes says that a character named Eddie appears. Is this true?

D2 BoCo (talk) 22:33, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The title says "Eddie", but I wouldn't jump on the theory that it refers to a new character - they're probably just referring to Edward. Starkiller (talk) 03:13, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's here on the Oregon Public Broadcasting schedule if you want to look it over yourself. The episode doesn't have a summary, though: only the first story in each half-hour block is summarized. [1] Starkiller (talk) 03:15, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean? Eddie? Edward? Or what? Nevermind! Trainboy8 (talk) 16:36, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

According to the schedules on Channel 5's website, "Steady Eddie" does indeed refer to Edward. For more information, see my post below... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.17.244.253 (talk) 10:12, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

More episodes / synopses confirmed[edit]

I've just checked Channel 5's website, which confirms that Series 12 will be broadcast in the UK starting from September 1st. The TV listings give the synopsis for "Steady Eddie" and also confirm another episode title, "Rosie's Funfair Special." Here are the links...

Those links actually did work when I saw them earlier, SLJ, and the site does contain the information (in different places, though). Good eye, though.
I cited working links to episode summaries (from the same website) in the main article. This list (for now) contains valid links to summaries of episodes airing on Five - there are a couple pages of these listings, so browse through them as we get closer to the actual airdates - http://library.digiguide.com/lib/programmenextshowing/237292&hPage=2 We have been getting a lot more solid references on the upcoming season, so I've implemented them into the article, and moved things around a bit to make the information tidier. 75.67.199.191 (talk) 00:47, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Editing the Article[edit]

From what I've gathered on this page, http://library.digiguide.com/lib/programmenextshowing/237292&hPage=2 , the UK airings of Season 12 will be in a different order than in the US, and may only air one episode in a fifteen-minute block rather than two episodes in a twenty-eight minute block, as the US summaries indicate. Since the articles for each Thomas & Friends season are supposed to be based on the order of airing in the UK, I've adjusted the article to compensate for this, while retaining the information we've learned about the American broadcasts.

Ultimately, I believe that the Engines & Escapades episodes should be removed from the actual lists (although a footnote about their inclusion in the US broadcasts should be added, particularly if the episodes are re-narrated by Brosnan).

I moved the new character summaries down to the character section, because it seemed redundant to include a simple list when we had more comprehensive information elsewhere in the article.

Also, I included a section on the season's production, including references from a few news sites and one of the companies involved in the production of the upcoming seasons.

If you would like to comment on any of the changes I've made, I'll be watching this article and its talk page. 75.67.199.191 (talk) 00:47, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to hold off on that until we get more info and/or after the series has finished airing. But we're starting the transition to a completed article, which will ultimately combine them. 75.67.199.191 (talk) 13:52, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No. The articles are meant to be informative, not "pretty". Take a look at, say the list of chaacters for this. ;) Skeletal S.L.J.C.O.A.A.A.T.R. Soul 22:50, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It wasn't necessarily to look "pretty", but I remember about a year or two ago people were really obsessed with listing character appearances, then they got dropped for making the page too long. I figured since people decided to bring back the lists of characters appearing in each season, this would make those lists more comprehensive.
BTW, a lot of the Thomas pages are eyesores right now. I've been trying to make the pages more navigable / easier on the eyes, using pages like this and this as references.75.67.199.191 (talk) 23:07, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, they truly extend the artcle longer than it needs to be. Looking at Railway engines (Thomas and Friends), my eyes burn. There's no need for all the coloring. Just a table of contents. I'm surprised that the weak eyed haven't complained yet. We need to think about them. These articles may no longer be readable to them...About 2 years ago, I was an IP vandal, so, I have no knowledge on that situation. We don't need to list their appearance. Unless, say, it's like a major role in a game, or a movie. For example, Rouge's article doesn't list her individual appearance in Sonic X, but, sumarises her main role in the series. Nor, does the Sonic X article give a listing for each character. Skeletal S.L.J.C.O.A.A.A.T.R. Soul 23:15, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"The Party Surprise"[edit]

It must be pointed out that "The Party Surprise" aired today on the 11th instead of the proposed episode, "Push Me, Pull You" (which will instead air on the 25th). The assumption that "Push Me, Pull You" would air today was obviously a result of a mistake on behalf of those who provided the sources. As there is no 'offical' evidence to support the fact "The Party Surprise" aired today, I have not updated the page - but instead made whoever is in charge of this page aware of the fact so that you may decide what to do. I do not wish to be accused of 'vandalism'. 84.71.118.66 (talk) 11:31, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hm. That should be looked into. If we can find a source, that'd be great. I'll take a look when I finish my homework. Wait, 84, no need to worry. No one's in charge of anything. Colour contrast problems[edit]

It seems that this article is using colours in the infobox which don't satisfy Wikipedia's accessibility guidelines. The contrast between the foreground colour and the background colour is low, which means that it may be difficult or impossible for people with visual impairments to read it.

To correct this problem, a group of editors have decided to remove support for invalid colours from Template:Infobox television season and other television season templates after 1 September 2015. If you would still like to use custom colours for the infobox and episode list in this article after that date, please ensure that the colours meet the WCAG AAA standard.

To test whether a colour combination is AAA-compliant you can use Snook's colour contrast tool. If your background colour is dark, then please test it against a foreground colour of "FFFFFF" (white). If it is light, please test it against a foreground colour of "000000" (black). The tool needs to say "YES" in the box for "WCAG 2 AAA Compliant" when you input the foreground and the background colour. You can generally make your colour compliant by adjusting the "Value (%)" fader in the middle box.

Please be sure to change the invalid colour in every place that it appears, including the infobox, the episode list, and the series overview table. If you have any questions about this, please ask on Template talk:Infobox television season. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 05:31, 2 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
