I'm afraid that this article is going to need to be torn down and rebuilt from the ground up. The definition is informal, non-academic and narrow. Worse, every single example is a mid-twentieth century American or English language reference. Topical songs have a rich history going back hundreds of years in virtually every country in the world. The article needs to reflect that or be deleted as useless, which it now is. Time permitting, I'll try to start a reconstruction....Sensei48 (talk) 22:06, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
