WWII meeting of Americans and Soviets[edit]

Torgau was the site of a famous photo of American and Soviet soldiers reaching across to shake hands, and that was an early meeting. It was not the first such meeting, as is commonly believed. There was such a meeting a few days earlier at Strehla, a few kilometers to the south, also on the west bank of the Elbe. There's a memorial to that event at Strehla. 20:58, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Stephen Kosciesza

It wasn't a few days earlier, it was on the same day. And Torgau is the place that the meeting was made official. I've re-written the introduction, as "falsely most well known" is a bit too pointed for an introduction. The information is in the WWII section now. Xyl 54 (talk) 22:02, 10 July 2012 (UTC)
