A trench is a trench is a trench[edit]

Either the name of Trenchtown is derived from the trench or it is not, is it? --Maweki 11:52, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bob[edit]

So what was Bob Marley's association with Trenchtown that made him mention it in his songs? Did he ever actually live in a "government yard"? And a picture of one of those would be nice, by the way. Thanks, Maikel (talk) 13:51, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Seconded - this article would benefit greatly from a picture.--Nick??? 12:36, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, I added a request for one. Also I think this article could easily be expanded much more than its current size, I'm sure there's much more to write about this historic town. -- œ 03:41, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Trenchtown's reference in "Shine On" by RIO[edit]

I knew about the Bob Marley references to Trenchtown, and some days ago I noticed in the RIO's "Shine On" song that at the start of the song he seems to reference it saying: "In Trenchtown I'm on my mission". He really seems to say Trenchtown; however, in the second part of the song he seems to say "In strange town I'm on my mission". I checked some lyrics out there and it is not clear which one is the correct one.

In addition, the music video seems to be recorded somewhere in the Caribbean without doubt. However, I do not know whether it is somewhere near Jamaica/Trenchtown or not.

If someone with native English language knowledge can clarify this, I would appreciate it. Here it is the official music video:

Coordinate error[edit]

{{geodata-check}}

The following coordinate fixes are needed for the Settlement Infobox. Current coordinates contents of the infobox template are:

| latd = 17.984903 |latm = |lats = |latNS = | longd = 76.796764 |longm = |longs = |longEW =

Which puts Trenchtown, Jamaica somewhere in the vicinity of Usturi, Maharashtra, India

FWIW, it looks like the longitude should be -76.796764. (i.e., current value is using East longitude vice West)

Trenchtown or Trench Town[edit]

The article uses both therms equally. My English tells me the Threnchtown would be correct, but the song is named Trench Town. If both therms are synonimous it would be nice to put that in brackets next to the first word in the text (i.e Trenchtown (also spelled Trench Town) is...). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.143.100.123 (talk) 23:10, 20 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
