History of pediatric triple arthrodesis surgery[edit]

I was born with a club foot in 1968 and had this surgery performed on me at the then N.C. Children's Hospital near Gastonia, N. C. My understanding is that the surgery can now sometimes be performed under general anesthesia and a hospital stay is only 2 to 4 days. When this surgery was performed on me, in 1968, my parents tell me I spent months in the hospital. Does anyone know what changes in medical technology, knowledge, or etc., since then, have enabled patients to have such a shorter recovery? Also, I've read the surgery currently takes 2 to 4 hours.
