arban vs arvan

[edit]

Is there any specific reason (other than incorrect transcription from cyrillic) why the unit of 10 is named "arban" instead of "arvan"? The latter would be a correct representation of the Mongolian numeral "арван". I don't expect the word to have changed in the transition from the classic mongolian script. --Latebird 14:22, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As I've just learned, the classic spelling does indeed transcribe correctly to "arban". Old languages can be full of surprises... --Latebird 22:48, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Huns were not Turks, nor are Turks Huns. Therefore, Huns should not be called Proto-Turks.--218.19.102.5 (talk) 14:17, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

unfortunately, Wiki does not run on unsubstantiated ballyhoo - it requires Reliable Sources from knowledgeable scholars that do research - pity, that, eh? 20:34, 14 January 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.111.2.100 (talk)

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: pages moved. Strong consensus for moves, and I judge that there's a consensus for Tumen (unit) as the target. I'm boldly moving the DAB too under WP:SNOW. Andrewa (talk) 17:54, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

TumenTumen (myriad) – The topic of this article is a word that is used for the number 10000 (a myriad), mostly in military contexts. However, there are several other articles that share the same name, which can be seen at Tumen (disambiguation). Since there are rather notable geographical locations in the list, I propose that the current article is moved to Tumen (myriad) and that the original title is redirected to Tumen (disambiguation). - Anonimski (talk) 22:50, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
