It is suggested that this stub-class article be merged with the more recent article, SS Cardena. In my view, this would not be advisable, as the brief section to be found in the Cardena article that relates to the history of the Union Company is intended only as a context for the construction of the ship itself, not as a history of the Company. The section ends at 1923 and is only picked up again in the final section of the article, when the reasons for the Company's demise are discussed.

The history of the Union Steamship Company of BC is a lengthy, complex story spanning 70 years and 53 vessels, and is inextricably linked with the early history of the province of British Columbia. The Union Company deserves its own extensive, well-researched article.Cardena (talk) 03:19, 24 July 2009 (UTC)Cardena[reply]

Move some content, but don't merge[edit]

There is quite a lot of good content in the Cardena article that properly belongs here instead of there. The Cardena itself is notable and deserves its own article as does the Union Steamship Company. That is the way it looks to me. --KenWalker | Talk 03:43, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal for new article[edit]

I am working on an extensive article on this company. There's a number of errors in the existing article, which doesn't have have inline sources. If nobody objects, I expect that in about 3 weeks I should have a complete replacement.Mtsmallwood (talk) 19:03, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
