Date of birth -- how affected by use of Julian calendar?
I have read from other sources that it took the 1917 revolution to get Russia to go onto the Gregorian calendar, which by then was 13 days ahead of the Julian calendar. Until then, Russia was using the Julian calendar. Yes, I notice that Abakovsky (the subject of this Wikipedia article) was born in Latvia, not Russia. (The Gregorian-calendar article says that Latvia went Gregorian in 1915, so an 1895 birth date in Latvia would be on Julian calendar, right?) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.108.40.206 (talk) 16:02, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
