I'm not sure about the phrase "Wingnut Entertainment". On my favourite search engine the first 26 non-sponsored hits didn't seem to include it. Hit 27 was this article. But "Wingnut Films", yes, plenty. Robin Patterson 30 June 2005 07:02 (UTC)

NPOV[edit]

I do not think this article conforms very well to NPOV in many respects, especially this line:

Weta may be going through a re-branding exercise, having spawned new divisions such as Weta Tenzan Chain Maille, Weta Collectibles, Weta Publishing.....with more in the pipeline.

This article needs a good bit of work to fall into NPOV and requires a lot more citing for many of the claims made in the article. --Ihmhi (talk) 10:34, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Evangelion Live Action?[edit]

They moved the pictures around on Weta's site so they are pretty much harder to find but some are still there. Even with concept art made, would it say that the movie is in it's planning stages/pre-production but at the same time in Development Hell? IF so it is still Wetas work and it should be mentioned on the page. There is even a video interview with Ben Wooten and Richard Taylor talking only about the Eva project if someone needs a source for it to be in the article.

Some "description" of a workshop[edit]

This article sucks. One expects to find a detailed description of the now famous hardware & software facilities and the copious talent, which have been brilliantly exploited in the making of films like Avatar. Due coverage[edit]

This article is about the organisation. It seems to be in some danger of being taken over, per WP:UNDUE and WP:COATRACK, by some allegations of misconduct which frankly could be levelled at almost any organisation anywhere. I'm therefore not sure they should even be mentioned here, let alone at length, and the coverage should certainly not be made any longer without firm consensus. We might reflect, per WP:NOTNEWS, that the allegations may not look terribly relevant in 2, 5, or 10 years (to name a few encyclopedic timeframes); this is not a news site and it should not be following every bit of straw blowing in the evanescent news-wind. 17:39, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

Specific text to be added to History section, following the sentence, 'A digital division, Weta Digital, was formed in 1993' : Though they share the name 'Weta,' the two are separate companies with different ownership who operate independently of each other.
Reason for the change: Weta Workshop and Weta Digital are commonly mistaken for one another, as they often work collaboratively on projects, but each is independently owned and managed with its own clients and areas of expertise. This needs to be clarified in the article.

Weta Workshop → Wētā Workshop – This company has recently updated its logotype to include macrons. This reflects the correct spelling of the insect wētā after which the company was named, and means its name now does not reflect the meaning of the Māori word "weta" as "dirt, filth, muck, excrement, faeces".
