Process.. or advert?[edit]

Besides the fact that most of the wording in the article sounds like the VICE video about Waragi, the section on "process" does not explain anything about the process by which Waragi is made rather it sounds much like a promotion of VICE videos. Not very encyclopedic. The VICE video contained a number of factual errors and poor journalism as well and thus should not be taken as a source for anything beyond anecdotes

Merge suggestion[edit]

2010 Uganda mass poisoning should be merged into this article because there is very little material not already covered here and there is no reason whatever unique material there is can't be merged. This article is not very long and merging won't give the incident undue weight. Furthermore, it is unlikely 2010 Uganda mass poisoning passes Wikipedia:Notability (events). None of these facts are unlikely to change. --ThaddeusB (talk) 21:20, 25 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I agree with the proposal and reasoning. The section should here should be retitled, as well.--Chaser (talk) 00:13, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I support this as well. Neither of the articles are of considerable length, and in all likelyhood it seems improbable that the mass poisioning can be improoved upon. 87.54.33.250 (talk) 09:49, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I oppose. Undue weight is not purely about length of content. And including an incidence about poisonous warangi will link warangi to methanol. Unless incidences such as this are common we should keep it out of warangi. Taemyr (talk) 10:10, 26 April 2010 (UTC) strike pr comments from 173.3.112.55. • I oppose as well. Having roughly half the warangi article dedicated to that one time when it killed a bunch of people would be undue weight. Most warangi is not poisonous, and half an article about something that puts it in such a bad light not only fails WP:UNDUEWEIGHT, but also crosses over into mild WP:POV. かんぱい! • Re: to last two comments - The material is already here. Are you objecting to its inclusion here or the proposed merging (basically just redirecting) of the other article? --ThaddeusB (talk) 18:20, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
      • Yes, I was objecting to inclusion. Although Anon's comment changes things. Taemyr (talk) 06:02, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • "The BBC's Joshua Mmali ... says deaths from drinking it are not uncommon but this is the largest number killed at one time for several years." So, there is a reputable source that waragi is at least occasionally hazardous. Therefore, I don't think placing the poisoning here would unfairly tar waragi. 173.3.112.55 (talk) 00:45, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
      • Agreed, when reliable sources states that deaths from warangi happens we are no longer dealing with purly a single incidence and the undue weight concern over is largely moot. It would be nice if we could flesh out this aspect with solid statistics, "not uncommon" is a bit vague. Taemyr (talk) 06:02, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Since the incident article had no unique material and hasn't been touch in three weeks, I went ahead and redirected it to here. --ThaddeusB (talk) 20:20, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
