US show[edit]

"As of 2003, The Weakest Link has been cancelled in the US. The primary problem with the format is that the best players tend to get voted off, because of the winner-take-all format and the final playoff. If you're an average player, you're better off having a good chance of winning a small pot than having a small chance of winning of big pot."

That's not a "problem". It's inherent in the format. Surely that's not the reason it was taken off.

As I said before. The Weakest Link predates Survivor (at least in the UK and USA) so the voting system being inspired by that show is untrue. Mintguy 14:37 28 Jul 2003 (UTC)

The Weakest Link did not predate Survivor. I'd need a month on Weakest Link but Survivor premiered in the US in May 2000. Mike H 20:00, Aug 26, 2004 (UTC)
Fair enough. The Weakest Link was first shown in the UK in August 2000. I still say that the voting system was not inspired by "Survivor" as Survivor was not shown in the UK until 2002. Mintguy (T)

I agree - the 'flaws' are nothing of the sort. If selling a format to 60+ countries is flawed, I'd love more of those flaws! I think the US critics have unnecessarily criticised the programme because they don't like the idea of unfair rules. I have trimmed the article and added a few factiods where I felt useful.

The US show did 90 prime time versions, so it is slightly misleading to say that it was 'removed'. It was originally intended to do a series of 13. It was a massive prime time hit that ran its natural course. Unless I'm going blind, there is not even a section about the US at all on the Weakest Link enty now. I think I might try and add some general info to the international section when I get a moment, it needs an update. RMM77

Removed the following:

"The show also was a first in one aspect: previously, women only hosted game shows as temporary guest hosts. Weakest Link differed from all game shows which ran before it, as they only had men as permanent hosts. Anne Robinson thus became the first female permanent host of a game show."

I would like to pay attention of the editing board to the fact that there is one more version of "The Weakest Link" - Russian.It is called "Slaboye zveno"("weakest link) and is broadcasted by !st channel or ORT.

Tosh - the celebrity winners sometimes volunteer to split their winnings with whoever comes second - that's it.

The format[edit]

I have arranged the international versions by continent, since there was no arrangement before then. I don't really know whether Russia and Turkey should be under the Asia or Europe section (they are in both continents!!!) - I have currently put both in the Asia section. Suggestion[edit]

When I looked through the article it didn't mention anything about the video game that was released, based on the TV show. It should at least be mentioned in the article if not have an article about the video game itself. If anyone ould like to discuss this further leave me a message on my talk page. Article Title[edit]

This program's name has always been The Weakest Link and it has not changed. The program has a different name the US which has a separate article: Weakest Link (US).

Trying to shorten the article by making table instead of having too many aritcles.[edit]

The article of the weakest link is way too long. Probably suggest to make a table like those on the articles of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and Deal or No Deal. I mean, who wants an article composed of may little other ones? Come on, I suggest that someone shorten it, the article looks kind of horrible with the table unfinished. Azerbaijan, Ukraine Iran[edit]

I have removed the reference to the Azerbaijan version being only one series long. It lasted for more than one series. It was also stated that most international versions only lasted for one series. This is not the case at all so I have removed that.

No Ukranian or Iranian versions of this show were ever licensed by BBC Worldwide so I have removed them. I would imagine that the one viewable in Iran was the Future TV version on Arabsat from Lebanon. However, if another version was aired in Iran, it would have been an unauthorised copy and therefore does not belong on this page which is specifically about the Weakest Link format, and not shows that are similar to that format. Germany and Hungary[edit]

A user with IP 66.183.26.64 deleted the entire German and Hungarian sections without explaining why. I have reinstated it exactly as it was until someone can explain why!

I certainly think it's important that viewers from each country listed in the main table also have the right to write and read about the details of their local version. RMM77

The Weakest Link (UK game show) → The Weakest Link – Currently, this is unnecessary disambiguation. Apparently, the current The Weakest Link redirect originally pointed to Weakest Link,[1]. But after the above 2017 merger discussion,[2] most of the content on Weakest Link was merged here, and the redirect was changed accordingly.[3] Weakest Link was subsequently changed to a disambiguation page.[4] I have no other opinion about making the primary topic or redirect something else, or whether the International versions of The Weakest Link page should be moved instead to serve as the board-concept-article of The Weakest Link game show franchise. I'm only concerned that the current situation is unacceptable.
