Programme History

[edit]

This entry requires some expansion on the programme's history. I'll attempt this soon. There are also some inaccuracies that need correction. (1) Claim that it's the longest-running radio show can't be correct when the entry already mentions The Daily Service. In the US the Grand Ole Opry would also qualify. (2) Programme didn't start on 1929 on BBC Home Service as this didn't exist until 1939. (3) First talk was by Mary Hamilton and not Margaret Bondfield according to BBC Genome Project listings for the Radio Times. (4) Regular radio broadcasting began in 1978 not 1976, although there had been a 3 month experiment in 1978 - see 1978 in British radio. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RadioJottings (talkcontribs) 23:28, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
