Dale Owen
[edit]User:GB fan, In the past two days you have twice remved Dale Owen from the list of notable alumni. The first time I restored him with the edit summary "restore Dale Owen, redlinks are ok if a source is cited that establishes notability and attendance at the school". You removed him a second time with the edit summary "no indicationhe is notable".
I myself have often removed names of alumni which are red-linked or unlinked, but only when no adequate source is cited. In this case a good source was cited (a major UK newspaper).
- Powell, Kenneth (28 November 1997). "Obituary: Dale Owen". The Independent. London.
This source says that Dale Owen attended the school and indicates that he was an important architect. Early in his career he worked in Walter Gropius's practice for a year. He became a partner in the Percy Thomas Partnership, at which he designed several significant buildings in South Wales. In my view this justifies his inclusion on the list of aluumni.
If you need more evidence then I have found more good sources. I hope to write an article based on these.
- Newman, John (1995). Glamorgan: (Mid Glamorgan, South Glamorgan and West Glamorgan). Penguin Books. p. 695. ISBN 978-0-14-071056-4. This is the definitive work on the architecture of Glamorgan, Owen is listed 12 times in its index.
- Cherry, Monica (September 2005). "The Modern in Wales". Twentieth Century Society.
- Mark, Monica (15 April 2014). "BBC Wales HQ misses out on listing". Architects' Journal.
- Davey, Elaine; Thomas, Huw. "Chief Creator of Modern Wales': The Neglected Legacy of Percy Thomas" (pdf). Cardiff University.
I will restore the name. Verbcatcher (talk) 05:12, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
