Origin of the surname "Whitehead."[edit]

WHITEHEAD, English, Irish, Scottish, meaning white or fair-haired.

A surname originating from an English nickname describing a man with fair hair, or prematurely white hair. The name comes from the Middle English whit, meaning white, and heved meaning head.

A north European surname purportedly associated with fair or white hair and unrelated to age or greying.

The definition "A derogatory term for white people." does not appear to be supported by any published dictionary.
