I don't see that there's enough here to justify Winemaker being a distinct article at present, this is mostly a list of Winemaking tasks. Hence I propose a merger with WinemakingFlagSteward 16:18, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

The negociants do more than what you describe in some regions. They are the de facto distribution system in the Bordeaux region. The Chateaus allocate their production to the various negociants who arrange the sale. You can't buy wine directly from the Chateau/vineyard. You must make your wholesale purchases through negociants.
