Medal matchplay

What exactly is "medal matchplay", which is what I've read and heard the tournament being described as? Seems to me as though each match is mere strokeplay (aka medal play) with no match play element. DellusMaximus (talk) 11:32, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

Match play in that it is one player vs. another; medal in that the total scores is used to determine the winner, not hole by hole scores. Tewapack (talk) 20:04, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
