Shall we start the discussion here?[edit]

As a result of an ongoing RfA this article has come to my attention. It was promoted five years ago, and I don't believe that it meets the current FA criteria. A few examples:

  • "York City Football Club is an English association football club based in York, North Yorkshire. The club participates in League Two, the fourth tier of English football. Founded in 1922, they joined the Football League in 1929". So the club is both singular and plural?
  • "At the end of the 2003–04 season the club lost their League status ..." same problem again.
  • "York have enjoyed more success in cup competitions than in the league. Same problem again.
  • "The club fared better in cup competitions and built a reputation for "giant killing", the earliest example being in the 1937–38 season's FA Cup. That needs some work to avoid the noun plus 'ing trap, and to clarify the scare quotes around "giant killing".
  • "York won the Fourth Division championship with 101 points in the 1983–84 season, becoming the first side to reach 100 points in a Football League season. But they didn't reach 100 points, they reached 101. Perhaps what's meant is that they became the first side to exceed 100 points in a season?

I could go on and on, but in support of Kiefer Wolfowitz I think this is a pretty marginal and rather poorly written FA that quite likely would not survive a WP:FAR. Eric Corbett 19:25, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Team Lists[edit]

Hi, to try stop the edit war I have written on WT:FOOTY around a discussion on team article pages and using the FS template. NZ Footballs Conscience(talk) 22:57, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Current squad: Do we really need all these references one after another after the last date updated or should they be moved to the relevant player's names? 86.169.53.193 (talk) 16:26, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Could do, but some of those references are for departed players too. But the new website should have the player profiles up soon anyway. Mattythewhite (talk) 16:41, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
