Yoshi's Safari, Mario's Only Shooting Game[edit]

Think he'll ever star in another Shooter? Probably not because lots of fans don't think it's in Mario's Character to shoot guns to get rid of the baddies even though the baddies are shooting him with Bullet Bills, Fireballs, and Cannonballs. --Arima 00:35, 1 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Any evidence of composers?[edit]

The page lists three composers, but where it came from? This game lacks credits. I have Googled but I couldn't find any concrete evidences.220.100.20.155 (talk) 04:46, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Good question. Not sure what this article references as sources. Harizotoh9 (talk) 20:05, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Gameplay[edit]

  • Isn't this more of a light gun shooter than a rail shooter?? I suppose light gun shooter is a sub-genre of rail shooter, but light gun is more specific and accurate. This should be fixed in the lead and infobox as well.
    • Yeah I see what you mean. Changed JOEBRO64 14:03, 24 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • The player loses lives if enemies deplete their health bar, falls in a pit with less than three coins, or fails to complete the level within the allotted time. I think you need to declare the subject after the first comma. It sounds funny.
    • Gosh my grammar has not been good recently. Fixed JOEBRO64 14:03, 24 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • different enemies and/or prizes "And/or" is kinda informal. Just "And" is OK.

Development[edit]

  • Unfortunately... That sounded like a word to watch and sure enough it is. WP:EDITORIAL
  • Its North American launch coincided with a controversy surrounding the rerelease of the popular arcade game Mortal Kombat (1992) for the SNES and Sega's Genesis. Fearing parental backlash, Nintendo forced the Mortal Kombat developers to remove the blood and gore, which, according to IGN, stole the spotlight from Yoshi's Safari. I think this passage can be written better. (A) It's not mentioned that the controversy was about violence. (B) The way it says "Fearing parental backlash..." comes out of nowhere as it has not been explained what they would be fearing backlash about. I think this bit also strays slightly further from Yoshi's Safari than we should. Suggest replacing with: Its North American launch coincided with the rerelease of the popular arcade game Mortal Kombat (1992) for the SNES and Sega's Genesis, a game controversial for its violence. According to IGN, Nintendo's decision to soften the blood and gore in the SNES version drew public attention away from Yoshi's Safari.

Reception and Legacy[edit]

  • "may be tempted to turn your SuperScope [sic] on yourself and end it all!" Hah! I thought that was funny.
