I added the box that goes with every Dragon Ball character page, but I don't know what the Japanese name is in Japanese characters or how to romanize it so I ask if someone else could add those, thanks. Takuthehedgehog19:44, 10 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merger

[edit]

No need to keep the article. It's just a plot summary of a character that's not notable beyond one movie. She's even worse because she's just a minor henchwoman, not the main villain. Agree or disagree? Nemu 20:30, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. Raditz was also a "minor character" as well, who only appeared in a few episodes, and yet he has an article for himself. You can't judge whether an article deserves to be deleted or merged based on whether the character was "minor" or not, because that is an entirely subjective evaluation which cannot be backed up with any evidence. The article to merge her to is already clogged up enough as is, yes? Why add more to it when this article conveys all that needs to be known about this character?
Daishokaioshin 20:44, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I also disagree. Since several characters, such as King Cold, Kiwi, and many others have only appeared once or thrice in the series, yet they have their own page. Just leave 'em be.
--Power level (Dragon Ball) (T | C) 18:54, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't believe such minor characters need articles either. How does using more important character articles signify the importance of this article? She was a very small henchwoman in one movie with a one panel appearence in GT. Raditz, Cold, and Kiwi did much more in comparison to her. If you think she's important enough to need an article, do you think the two aliens from the four or five episode fake Namek mini-arc should get a page? They did a lot more than her.
This article pretty pointless. There is pretty much two good paragrphs of info. They could probably be condesned even more. They would be better suited to the list, which really isn't that bloated besides some one shot filler characters that don't even deserve mention. Nemu 19:12, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. None of the other members of Bojack's crew have their own page. The other "minor" characters used above were still important to the series. Zangya's got one movie appearence where she basically spends three seconds beating on Kuririn, helps her cohorts scuffle with Gohan and the others, and then dies. This article has 3 big paragraphs on her, and it really isn't necessary for her maybe 15-20 minutes of total screen time. If we give her an article, we need to give Gokua one too. His fight with Trunks was more elaborate than Zangya's big showdown with Kuririn. Onikage725

The duration of their appearances don't determine wether they get an article or not, but how much you can write about them. // Sasuke-kun27 19:41, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The duration of her appearence is directly related to how much one could write about her. I just summed her contribution to the series up in one sentence. It could be padded and better written, but that would hardly require more than a paragraph (or two if one were to really stretch). And that length would serve wonderfully on a list moreso than an article unto itself. Onikage725
Well, it sort of has to do with that. It's about notablity as the site isn't filled with tiny, random bits of info. The amount you can write about them certainly comes after notability. I could easily fluff up many random filler characters and give them articles that are probably longer than this one. The point is that these movie characters are not really notable in the first place and the info on them is mostly plot summary or cruft. Nemu 18:01, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Notability is not a criteria for determining whether an article can be kept or deleted, because it is entirely subjective.
Daishokaioshin 03:30, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
While it's a thing of problem in the AfD debates, it's still used for many decisions (People, bands, other popular media. Why not fictional characters?). It's hardly subjective. Character is minor: true. Character get few hits in search engines and most of the results are company names which shows she isn't very notable on the internet. That means she's probably not very notable to the average person. All of these conclusions can say that she is not notable. Nemu 11:15, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just want to add this...read this article. The second paragraph under background is loaded with original research. Rather than present what Zangya did, the writer goes to great length to analyze the character based on those actions. The third paragraph goes on to give quotes from BT2. Then there is an entire paragraph on movie 12, when her appearance in that film is a cameo so small you'd literally have to know exactly when to pause in order to get a good glimpse. She doesn't need her own article. One for Bojack and one on movie 9 itself suffices, with the henches on the list. The rest of Bojack's crew is done that way. Zangya is not any more or less notable than Bujin, Bido, and Gokua. At the very least this article needs to be shortened. Onikage725 16:40, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Cruft"?

[edit]

Nemu, why does your thinking information is "cruft" justify its removal? I agree that parts of what you deleted didn't belong, but other parts that were removed could have simply been rewritten, and had no negative impact on anything. I'd like for everyone to please rethink deleting things just because they don't like how something is worded.

Daishokaioshin 03:40, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted it not because I don't like the wording, but because it's cruft. Nobody cares that she's the first female to be killed on screen, how strong she is, that she only spoke once, or that she dissapeared in a puff of smoke. All of that can be defined as cruft. The summary wasn't needed, and I didn't feel like saying "and merging summary." Nemu 11:15, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
There is an awful lot of non-encyclopedic "information" in this friggin' article. It's like in order to compensate for the fact that she's a one-shot one-dimensional movie henchwoman the article attempts to draw conclusions to pad it out. Now I could have sworn that was generally considered unacceptable. When I was newer around here I'd make that same mistakes and was generally reverted with various wiki policies about sticking to the verifiably sourced facts without adding one's own spin. This article reads more like the front page of a geocities or aol hometown Zangya fansite. Onikage725

Merge-ready?

[edit]

I cut down the article to one paragraph. I already merged it with the List of Aliens, but it was reverted by another user. The summarized info about Zangya is already in the other page though, all I need is everyone's blessing to change Zangya so that it redirects to the List. So let's be done with this. Jonny2x4 04:23, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If no one objects by Friday, I just gonna merge this one already. Jonny2x4 19:11, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I object, Zangya has enough info. for a main article. So I oppose the merger. —--Power level(Dragon Ball) 19:42, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Have you looked at the page? She has a paragraph of info (the atta k list is just extra info, so it doesn't count). Nemu 19:51, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
There's going to be a poll starting below this line.

I Oppose this merger. The attack list could use some clean-up and all, but other than that it's fine. —--Power level(Dragon Ball) 20:29, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

She has no damn info. It's pure cruft. Anything about her that's not cruft can fit into a paragraph which fits nicely on the list. Nemu 20:33, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You know that's just your opinion. I think she's alright with having a main article since it provides a detailed biography about her. So, do you Oppose or Support? —--Power level(Dragon Ball)Stacy's Mom 20:40, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I really don't care about your little polls. You also realize that if what I say is an opinion, that means yours it also. This is a stub that can only be expanded by fluff. Do you see anything notable that isn't in her entry on the list(Do not say the attack list. That's just some extra info that is put on pages to fill them)? Nemu 20:46, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Let us look at the content of this article:
  1. What she looks like, which can be adequately detailed by a simple image; can be seen in List of other aliens in Dragon Ball.
  2. What her name means; can be seen in List of other aliens in Dragon Ball.
  3. What her relevance to the series has been; can be seen word for word in List of other aliens in Dragon Ball.
  4. What attacks she uses, two of which are far from being unique (most DBZ characters fly and move fast), five video game attacks (note that most other DB character articles don't list video game attacks), and one unique attack that could easily be worked into her section in List of other aliens in Dragon Ball.
  5. What games she appears in; can be seen in List of other aliens in Dragon Ball.
So I don't know what "detailed biography" there is in the article, nor do I see much of anything worthy of mention. And since you'd like to vote (using above comments to tally): In favor of a "merge" are Nemu, Onikage, Jonny2x4, and what I shall call myself; Oppose a "merge" are you (Power level) and Daishokaioshin. So that's 4 in favor and 2 against. Who wins? ~SnapperTo 21:25, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
