Tarr Nunatak

Tarr Nunatak (77°29′S 166°53′E / 77.483°S 166.883°E / -77.483; 166.883Coordinates: 77°29′S 166°53′E / 77.483°S 166.883°E / -77.483; 166.883) is a nunatak rising to c.1700 m on the northwest slope of Mount Erebus, Ross Island. The feature is 1.2 nautical miles (2.2 km) south-southwest of Abbott Peak. Named by New Zealand Geographic Board (NZGB) (2000) after Sgt. L.W. (Wally) Tarr, RNZAF, aircraft mechanic with the New Zealand contingent of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition, 1956-58.
