Tatran Stadium (Štadión Tatran Prešov in Slovak) is a multi-purpose stadium in Prešov, Slovakia. It is currently used for football matches as home ground of the Corgoň Liga club 1. FC Tatran Prešov. The stadium holds 5,410 spectators (all seated).

History

First playing field was built in 1899. In 1907 stadium has capacity 400 people. During World War II bombing, stadium was damaged and burned out. In 1945-47 new tribunes with 4500 seats were build. In 1994 capacity was increased to 7900. Due to renovation work in 2009 the capacity was decreased to 5,410 (all seats).[1]

New Stadium

There were some ideas to build new stadium. They were right. The construction hasn't started yet in 2010, than expected. The New Tatran Stadium should have lower capacity (12 000), and should be one of the most modern football stadiums in the central Europe with newest technologies. Stadium has cost about 23,236,000 €.
