Part of the Elevated Walkway of the Forest Walk in Telok Blangah Hill Park

Telok Blangah Hill Park is a park situated at Telok Blangah Green, off Henderson Road, in Bukit Merah.

History

Since the early nineteenth century, the park has long been a place of gathering for trading communities which flourished. The prosperity of the traders is represented by Alkaff Mansion, an elegant colonial bungalow built by an Arab trader and is previously a place for grand parties of the social elite.[1] A young girl's dead body had been found inside a box here too.

Visitor information

A night view of the Terrace Garden in Telok Blangah Hill Park

The 34-hectare (84-acre) park is a popular place for wedding couples. A series of semi-circular terraces located at the top of the park is the Terrace Garden. The Garden features a 360-degree view of Singapore. Bougainvilleas grow on each terrace.[1]

Healthy exercises including t'ai chi ch'uan and jogging, either in the morning or night, are popular in the park. Being furnished with picnic tables, the park is an ideal place for picnics. Tall trees such as Eugenia, Alstonia and rain trees (Albizia saman) in the surroundings make picnics and other activities more enjoyable.

Indulge in the beauty of the secondary forests at the fringes of Telok Blangah Hill Park by trekking the Forest Walk – a 1.3-kilometre-long elevated walkway that links HortPark to Telok Blangah Hill Park. Complete your visit to Telok Blangah Hill Park by crossing the Henderson Waves to Mount Faber Park. This 800-metre-long structure is the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore, and is frequently visited for its artistic, distinctive wave-like structure consisting of a series of undulating curved 'ribs'.
