Requests for page protection

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level
Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Pattern of vandalism and addition of uncited information by temporary and new accounts. Activity seems to be driven by the article being currently linked on the front page of the site it describes. This is confirmed by the presence of soyjack-adjacent slang in the edit summaries. Users of the site have a history of raiding Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, so this behavior can be expected to continue for at least a week. ~2025-37440-32 (talk) 11:56, 8 December 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Before posting a request for unprotection, please discuss it with the protecting administrator first. You can create a request below only if you receive no response from them.

To find out which administrator protected the page, go to the page's edit history and click on the "View logs for this page" link (located underneath the page's title). The protecting administrator is listed in the protection log entry, next to the words "protected", "changed protection level", or "configured pending changes". If there are a large number of log entries on the page, use the drop-down menu near the top of the page and select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" to filter the logs accordingly.

DO NOT request a reduction in protection if...

  • ...you are being prevented from editing the page. A desire to change content is not a valid reason for unprotection. Instead:
    • If you can edit the article's talk page, use the WP:Edit Request Wizard to propose a change on the article's talk page. Include an explanation of the exact content that you want to change, and what the content will be afterward.
    • If the article's talk page is protected, you may propose a change at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Edit.
  • ...your reasoning for reducing protection is that the article has not been vandalized. That simply means the protection is working as intended.
  • ...your reasoning for reducing protection is basically "a long time has passed" without supporting details.
  • ...you haven't contacted the protecting administrator.

You may request a protection reduction below if...

  • ...you want to change the protection level of a template or module from full protection to template protection. You may add the request to this page without having to discuss it with the protecting administrator first.
  • ...you need to remove creation protection from a location where no page exists (redlinked pages) after a draft version of the intended article is prepared beforehand and ready to be published.
  • ...you are proposing a trial reduction in protection for a page that has been protected for several years, provided the proposal is supported by evidence such as talk page activity, page views, page traffic, number of watchers, frequency of edit requests, and prior history of vandalism.
  • ...the protecting administrator is inactive or has not responded to you in several days.

If you cannot locate your request, make sure to check the request archives to see if it's been moved there. Only requests that have been recently answered will still be listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit be made to a protected page
Please add an edit request to the talk page of the protected page before adding an edit request here

Requests for specific edits should be made on the talk page of the protected article. You can create an edit request below only if the talk page is also protected, preventing you from adding a request there.

Otherwise, this is the correct place to use in order to add an edit request if you are unable to add one to the article's talk page. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to properly add a request.

Requests for autopatrolled

Autopatrolled

Hello! I formally request the Autopatrolled user right. I'm a regular user of Wikipedia, both in Turkish and English. I have contributed to the Turkish Wikipedia, particularly on the Tao-Klarjeti region. I have also started to transfer these contributions to the English Wikipedia. I think it would be good to reduce the workload involved in reviewing the items I have written. Thank you. --ႧႤႧႰႨ ႾႠႰႨ (talk) 15:32, 15 October 2025 (UTC)

Not done. It's a bit too early for you to have the kind of established track record needed for autopatrolled on this wiki. Happy to reconsider after another few hundred edits. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:24, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

I've periodically patrolled Michelangelo1992's articles, and consistently found them to be in good shape. Focused on books as a topic area and very clear familiarity with WP:NBOOK. He's created 135 articles. ~ L 🌸 (talk) 22:56, 21 October 2025 (UTC)

@Michelangelo1992: I'm a little concerned about overly lengthy quotations. Would you commit to summarizing quotations a bit more? Also, see MOS:SAID. voorts (talk/contributions) 03:24, 31 October 2025 (UTC)
Thank you for the feedback! I’ve always trended toward direct quotes to avoid concerns for original research, but I can make an effort to paraphrase more in the future while still citing the original source. I’ll also try to be more mindful of WP:SAID. I thought I was doing fairly well with this, but I am always open to feedback particularly if you have specific suggestions relating to recent articles. Thank you! Michelangelo1992 (talk) 14:37, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
Done. @Michelangelo1992: I'm going to approve this because if the standard was perfection, patrollers' workload would be unmanagagble, but please bear in mind the feedback about lengthy quotes and plot summaries. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:23, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

Longtime editor dating back to 2006 who hopes to reduce the backlog at New Pages Patrol, of which I am a former member. Not a prolific article creator but I have started many on music albums, hiking/outdoors, and court cases. I plan to utilize my personal expertise to fill in all the red links in this list and this list. I also have professional knowledge of legal matters and hope to create many articles on Supreme Court and Appeals Court cases that are currently absent from Wikipedia. I am applying for autopatrolled. I am also NPP and AfC reviewer and participate in AfC backlog and NPP backlog. My focus topic is for music and following the WP:NSONG, WP:NALBUM, and WP:GNG but somehow I do create some articles rarely off-topic for music. But, my primary goal is Music-related articles only and create notable Filipino music. You can check my contributions here. ROY is WAR Talk! 08:59, 6 December 2025 (UTC)

I've already created more than 25 articles. I'd like to use this Autopatrolled right for my interest in WikiProject Korea, where I'm often active, particularly on TV series and actors. You can see my created articles here. Recently, one of my articles was moved to draftspace because it doesn't meet WP:TVSERIES. At first, it met the criteria, as there was a confirmed release date for this year, but now it's been postponed for an unknown reason and there's no reliable news about it. @Aidillia: Considering you were blocked for sockpuppetry until very recently, I would recommend waiting until you've restored your rapport with the community before requesting advanced permissions. TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 03:07, 8 December 2025 (UTC)

Request withdrawn (for bot archiving). @TechnoSquirrel69: When commenting in a way suggesting a request will be denied, it would be preferable if you would note that you aren't an admin/can't decide the request (or if you would fix that situation). ~ Jenson (SilverLocust 💬) 05:36, 8 December 2025 (UTC)

Hello, I'd like to request autopatrolled rights, seeing as I've made 32 mainspace articles, none of which are stubs (I do not rate my own created pages). Thus far, I've focused on creating pages related to music, most of which pertain to WP:Albums. Thanks, Fundgy (talk) 06:10, 9 December 2025 (UTC)

Quick note about Rough Trade Records soundtracks. That was meant to be a category but I forgot to add "Category:" in front, so I requested its deletion myself. Fundgy (talk) 06:17, 9 December 2025 (UTC)

Hi, I have used AWB to good effect in the past, and I think it would be a considerable help to me now. Since I restarted last month, I've done over 1,500 edits, and a high percentage of them have been iterative amendments/corrections/enhancements across ranges of articles. I know I qualify for the software in terms of edit count, but I've only been back here for a couple of weeks, so I'll understand if you want me to apply again at a later date. Looking in the future, I see myself working in WP Taylor Swift (or generally WP pop music). A fair recent example was when I mass created drafts of songs in Taylor Swift's new album, in which they all followed the same structure and had similar categories. It was very annoying to have to work on all of them one-by-one, and I feel like AWB will help if I meet such an example again. HwyNerd Mike (t | c) 23:05, 7 December 2025 (UTC)
Requests for confirmation

Confirmed

Reason for requesting confirmed rights I would like to update my father's Wikipedia page to contain more information about his life. Tlfarah (talk) 19:16, 30 November 2025 (UTC)

@Tlfarah: Your request here does not make it clear what page you want to edit, nor why you would need "Confirmed" level permission to edit that page. Most pages do not require this. Also, I strongly suggest that you read WP:COI and properly declare your conflict of interest before proceeding further. - Jmabel | Talk 00:03, 1 December 2025 (UTC)
Not done * Pppery * it has begun... 21:36, 6 December 2025 (UTC)

Becoming a manually "confirmed" user on Wikipedia earlier than the standard, automated route offers immediate access to critical editing tools, providing a substantial advantage for dedicated contributors and those involved in structured editing projects.

The standard autoconfirmed status requires an editor to wait four days and make ten edits naturally over time. Requesting manual confirmation bypasses this waiting period entirely, accelerating an editor's ability to fully participate in the encyclopedia's collaborative environment.

The primary motivation for seeking this status earlier is to immediately gain the trust and functionality necessary to circumvent anti-vandalism measures designed for brand-new accounts. Confirmed editors can instantly begin editing semi-protected pages, which are often high-traffic or controversial articles that administrators lock down to prevent disruption. Furthermore, they are immediately empowered to create new articles directly in the main encyclopedia space without the bottleneck of submitting drafts through the Articles for Creation process.

Early confirmation also unlocks essential account maintenance tasks, such as moving or renaming pages to correct titles and uploading files (images, multimedia) to support articles. For those participating in group editing events like edit-a-thons, obtaining this status immediately is crucial, as it allows participants to focus purely on content creation rather than administrative hurdles. In essence, seeking early confirmation is a practical step for serious editors to immediately remove the software limitations imposed on new users, allowing them to contribute efficiently and without artificial delay. The Force Awakens The Last Jedi Who Became A Rouge One (talk) 06:06, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

Manual confirmation of accounts on Wikipedia ahead of the standard automated route is almost never granted due to a combination of factors related to both practical concerns and the integrity of the platform.
One of the primary reasons is the risk of abuse. If manual confirmation were readily granted to users before they have demonstrated a certain level of activity, it could open the door for bad actors to gain early access to privileges that are meant to be earned over time. These privileges, such as the ability to edit semi-protected pages or move articles, are typically reserved for users who have shown a commitment to the platform, not just those who want to bypass safeguards. Wikipedia's policies prioritize the security and stability of the encyclopedia, which is why they require users to have at least four days of activity and ten edits, ensuring they are familiar with basic editing practices and community norms before gaining more advanced permissions.
Moreover, manual confirmation requires additional administrative oversight. Allowing manual requests for confirmation could result in an overwhelming workload for administrators, as they would need to review each request individually. This process, while possible, is resource-intensive and could lead to delays or inconsistencies, creating a bottleneck that undermines the efficiency of the entire community. The automated route, by contrast, ensures a more streamlined, impartial, and scalable process that minimizes human error and maximizes fairness.
Lastly, Wikipedia's system is designed to promote a gradual and inclusive pathway for users to become trusted contributors. The four-day waiting period and ten edits are in place to ensure that new users can familiarize themselves with the community’s standards, policies, and the collaborative nature of the platform before they gain higher-level privileges. This measured approach helps prevent premature or unchecked access to powerful editing tools that could disrupt the integrity of the site. It balances accessibility with the need for responsible stewardship of an open, crowd-sourced resource.
Therefore, while the desire to gain quicker access to editing privileges is understandable for active users, the Wikipedia community places significant value on a balanced, fair, and well-structured progression, and manual confirmations would disrupt that balance. Requests for new page reviewer

New page reviewer

I’ve already created a few articles and I often check new pages for sourcing, notability, and overall quality. I also help out in AfD discussions when I can, mostly to look at whether topics meet notability and if the sources are solid. I enjoy helping new editors fix their pages and guiding them on what needs improvement. Since I’m already active in this area, I’d like to take a more direct role in keeping the new pages feed clean and helping page creators understand the basics. Becoming a reviewer would let me contribute more effectively. Thanks for considering my request! Acrom12 (talk) 11:57, 18 November 2025 (UTC)

Automated comment This user has had 1 request for new page reviewer declined in the past 90 days ([2]). MusikBot talk 12:00, 18 November 2025 (UTC)
Not done I appreciate your enthusiasm but your last request was declined because you were too new to AfD. That's not a bad thing—it's an area that could particularly benefit from enthusiasm and new blood so please do keep it up, but that was only six weeks ago. Six weeks is not long enough to establish the kind of track record needed to evaluate you for a permission like this. You're welcome to ask again in three to six months if you keep up the work you're doing. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:49, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

Hello to the reviewer! I've noticed the large backlog and would like to help make some progress with patrolling pages, mainly redirects. I have some previous experience in the article for creation space, creating my own articles, and creating my own redirects. I try to help new incoming editors, including mentoring my current partner and teaching them how to use the features of Wikipedia. I'm capable of catching content that probably shouldn't belong on Wikipedia, but also helping new users expand draft articles.

I participate in AfD, though my suggestions are often rejected; I consider this a skill that I am still learning. It's worth noting that I have never misused speedy deletion or other non-discussion deletion methods; my usage of these has been successful when I have applied them. Even still, my knowledge of AfC and redirects provides me with a good basis to use this right.

Thank you, and please ask any questions you may have. aaronneallucas (talk) 05:12, 20 November 2025 (UTC)

I've been editing a while and over recent years have been helping mostly with WP:Ukraine-related topics and pages. Having done research on Ukraine on and off-wiki, I would like to extend the help to review new Ukraine and related page creations. I have 7 successful FL nominations (one was a joint-nomination), 1 successful GA (Prelude to the Russian invasion of Ukraine) and 1 unsuccessful (NAFO). Thanks in advance and feel free to ping me with questions/comments. Dan the Animator 01:57, 24 November 2025 (UTC)

Not done I went through your last month's worth of edits and your last 100 deleted edits and I don't see any significant experience of article curation. Normally, editors interested in this permission have some experience with the deletion processes (CSD, PROD, AfD). HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:20, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

I am requesting the New Pages Patrol right.

I have 4,000+ edits, including over 2,500 in mainspace and 500+ article creations. My work has given me solid experience with core content policies, particularly notability GNG, reliable sourcing, verifiability, and BLP compliance. I also participate in AfD discussions and review drafts, which has strengthened my understanding of how these policies apply to new pages.

I would like to support the community by helping maintain the quality of new articles, identifying issues early, and guiding new editors toward constructive contributions. I have no blocks or sanctions.

Thank you for considering my request. Sweetabena (talk) 18:32, 26 November 2025 (UTC)

Not done. I had to filter through a lot of maintenance tagging and categorisation (btw, I'm not sold o the value of maintenance tags in general but even less so on drafts, which accounts for the majority of your deleted edits) but I didn't find much curation experience. I see some AfD participation (but not enough to consider a track record) where you assert positions based on notability guidelines but often without backing them up (eg keep votes asserting coverage but without providing sources, delete votes namechecking a guidelines but not explaining how a subject fails them) but no experience with other deletion/curation processes. I would suggest continuing your AfD work and when you notice that your arguments are starting to convince other participants and closing admins, you could think about reapplying but you would probably need some experience with speedy deletion and something to demonstrate your understanding of copyright as well. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:35, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

I would like to request a renewals of the right I know it is slightly early but I would appreciate being considered especially with the December 2025 Backlog Drive approaching. I would LOVE to continue contributing during the drive and beyond. CONFUSED SPIRIT(Thilio).Talk 21:34, 30 November 2025 (UTC)

@HJ Mitchell Thank you again. @Rosguill Thank you too. Wish you both Happy Xmass in advance. (: CONFUSED SPIRIT(Thilio).Talk 16:54, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

Hello! I was a New page reviewer in 2023, and lost the rights due to a block on my account in early 2024. I appealed in September 2024 and returned to Wikipedia, and shortly thereafter requested my previous permissions be restored. I was told it was too early after coming back to regain such rights and that I should work on regaining trust first before applying again. It's been 15 months and around 2,000 more edits since I have returned and I was hoping that I could be considered for this role again.

Thanks EytanMelech (talk) 01:48, 3 December 2025 (UTC)

@EytanMelech I'm evaluating this request from the date of your return, taking that as starting from scratch. Which means I'm ignoring the block but also your track record before it. I don't see a lot of relevant experience since your return so I'm going to give you a trial period to get some. Feel free to come back to PERM, or to ask me on my talk page, a week or so before the end of the trial period. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:54, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

I'm looking to work on the extensive backlog and be able to contribute more effectively, and efficiently to an area of the encyclopedia I am passionate about. I have been fairly active in the AfC process, have created multiple articles, and promoted two existing ones to good article status myself. In addition, I am a fairly active participant at XfD and monitor the New Pages Feed regularly, so I know what to expect as a New Page Patroller. TheInevitables (talk) 04:25, 3 December 2025 (UTC)

Done. You're still finding your feet in curation/deletion, but I'm happy to give you a trial until the end of January. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:04, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

Re-applying after a one-month NPP trial. I have been very careful and judicious in using my NPP rights and will be happy to continue helping reduce the backlog. Thank you! Yenistardom (talk) 16:13, 4 December 2025 (UTC)

Done You still don't have much deletion experience, and some articles have required further attention (including speedy deletion) after you've marked them as patrolled so I'm going to extend the trial for another three months. Maybe do a batch of patrolling and ask an experienced patroller or NPP admin for feedback? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:10, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

@Acrom12: I am open to flexibility on the 3000 edit guideline with good cause for an exception, but you also don't have enough experience with the moving process (counting 37 distinct moves, 0 WP:RM/TR requests, 1 attempt at an RM that isn't actually listed at WP:RM – see WP:RSPM for instructions), your draftifications don't follow WP:NPPHOUR, and you don't yet have even temporary NPR permissions. (Also note that R2s are among the simplest deletions for admins to check, so it isn't a big deal not to have pagemover when draftifying.)  Not done. ~ Jenson (SilverLocust 💬) 14:37, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

Not done. I think it's a bit too early in your editing career. When taking out edit like adding date format tags, you don't have many edits and only minimal experience so far of evaluating edits against policy. I'd like to see you write a decent article or get involved with a maintenance process to gain a little experience first, then feel free to reapply in a few weeks. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:20, 7 December 2025 (UTC)
Thank you, I appreciate the suggestions you've given. Bagwe Neza (talk) 05:15, 8 December 2025 (UTC)

I am requesting to be a requested changes reviewer as I got understanding of Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, Wikipedia:Vandalism, Wikipedia:Verifiability. While I may of had multiple articles made by me rejected, this was from a while ago that I don't bother working on when I was absolutely terrible of editing around like 3 months ago. Additionally, I would be happy to work doing reviewing changes and checking it at least every day. Additionally, I got 900+ edits, and joined around 6 months ago with loads of huge editing, notably my 61016 article I have made.

I have a strong track record of removing vandalism, although there were several mistakes reported on my talk page while I was still a new user. I am also an active participant in speedy deletion, and have rollbacker and AfC permissions. I agree to use this right only to approve helpful edits and not to reinstate vandalism or discourage new uses by rejecting their changes. Somepinkdude (talk) 17:24, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

You were previously blocked for your misuse of edit summaries; while that doesn't appear to have fully restarted, I am not really a fan of the tone of some of your newer summaries. [3] [4] [5] WP:DENY is central to counter-vandalism, and the linked summaries don't give me much faith that it is going to be followed. I'm not declining this outright because I'd like a second opinion, but currently I wouldn't favor granting. Giraffer (talk) 12:25, 5 December 2025 (UTC)
Not done. I agree with Giraffer's concerns. Nothing that couldn't be fixed with a bit more experience, but I don't think we're there yet. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:18, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

I have been RC patrolling for over two months now. Clicking individual diff links to revert edits is very inefficient and unnecessary, and I believe having rollback could fix this.  Not done. This may seem on the harsh side for a fairly trivial permission but it's just not the case that you regularly revert vandalism. I went through your last 500 edits and didn't see any real history of reverting vandalism; you've never edited AIV and you've only made two protection requests ever.  Not done. Sorry, but your last request was denied because you were very new to recent changes patrolling and this request was made only just over two weeks later. You just don't have a long enough track record yet. I would suggest applying again when you have at least a couple of months of experience. Some experience at AIV and RFPP and other backroom areas would stand you in good stead. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:56, 7 December 2025 (UTC)
My last request was denied because I didn’t meet the criteria of “at least a month patrolling RC”, but I started patrolling on the 5th of November, and when I made this request I had been patrolling for about a month. SuperCode111 (talk) 22:43, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

Requests for temporary account IP viewer

Temporary account IP viewer

I am sure some people know how long I've been around on Wikipedia and do try my best to help out the project. I've only realised the change in system just now and thought I saw IP connection, however I seem to have been wrong at one AfD. I feel it would be helpful if I could see IPs again, in order to help do my part to help the admins and oversight community to deal with threats. I've helped with SPIs on some occasions, and feel it would be helpful to have this in my arsenal, so to speak. Regards Govvy (talk) 19:34, 6 December 2025 (UTC)

Done Sohom (talk) 18:25, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

I work on NPP and AFC and this would assist in my work there, as identifying any issues with the past behavior of a TA can be a bit of a black box. More importantly, several articles and topic areas I work on and have watchlisted receive specific patterns of vandalism and problematic BLP editing on pages of contentious fringe political BLPs that are difficult to detect and report without IP access. Having TAIV access would help me identify these issues and report these issues to the proper channels. I agree to abide by the policy set for usage of the right. going through page histories, i often have to revert all the edits of a user. taiv would help to find the problematic edits of temporary accounts. ltbdl (activate) 05:33, 8 December 2025 (UTC)

While I'm generally pretty liberal in terms of giving TAIV, [10] gives me a bit of a pause especially because the unblock was barely a month ago. I'll let other folks comment, but I'm leaning no purely based on the recency of the block (especially since one of the benefits of TAIV would be to hide LOUTSOCKing better).
