Function[edit]

This template is used to explain that a malformed RFCxxx template has been incorrectly completed. The template links to the instructions for completing RFCs. The associated template {{Template:ExampleRFCxxx}} can be placed in the talk page of the user who inserted the RFCxxx template, and the malformed RFCxxx template can be enclosed in <nowiki></nowiki> tags.

Params[edit]

The template takes no parameters.

Example[edit]

Code: {{BrokenRFCxxx}}

Output:

Information.svg The RFCxxx template below appears to be wrongly formatted, and as a result the RfC may not appear on the RFCxxx list. Please see RFC Instructions. When the template is fixed, please remove the <nowiki></nowiki> tags surrounding it. This notice may also be removed. Common errors include:

  • Missing parameter(s) (template must include section, reason and time parameters)
  • Use of exclamation mark (the "!" character) in section or reason text
  • Section parameter of template doesn't match section heading in discussion page (causes a broken link in RFCxxx list)
  • Wrong number of tildes used in time param - usually ''[[User:Rich Farmbrough|Rich]] [[User talk:Rich Farmbrough|Farmbrough]]'', 02:26, 16 December 2009 (UTC). 02:26, 16 December 2009 (UTC) (sig) instead of 02:26, 16 December 2009 (UTC) (timestamp)
  • Multiple RFC templates in different section in one discussion page - the Bot gets confused by this, even if some of the templates are wrapped in nowiki tags
  • Carriage return inside template
