Tell Aran[edit]

Created/expanded by Zozo2kx (talk), Al Ameer son (talk). Nominated by Zozo2kx (talk) at 16:25, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

  • The article is long enough (1755 characters (304 words) "readable prose size"). The article is new, though the was nominated 7 days after its creation, according to Other supplementary rules for the article it is ok since there is no large backlog of hooks. It is within policy (AGF on offline sources). The hook is not to long (108 characters). I am not sure if the source directly supports hook assertion. I read page 208 but could not find it. Is it possible to check this and present a quote which supports hook assertion? --Antidiskriminator (talk) 19:08, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
  • Hi Antidiskriminator. Thanks for the review. I wrote the article in one day (as you can tell from the history) and forgot to nominate it at that day.
  • As for the hook, p. 208 (Line 5), says "Tell Rifaat, with its superficies of 80 hectares......, is the most imposing tell found in the area, with the exception of Tell Aran." (emphasis is mine). So the writer is saying that Tell Aran is the most imposing/largest tell in the area (he is talking about the Mount Simeon area), and that Tell Rifaat is second. • Thanks for your reply and writing this article on very interesting topic. It is always a pleasure to review such nice article. I noticed that the source does not mention Mount Simeon area at all. Are you sure it is the area author had in mind, especially taking in consideration that Tell Rifaat is not on the territory of Mount Simeon District but on the territory of Azaz District?--Antidiskriminator (talk) 14:44, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
  • These are the modern subdivisions (and notice that I didn't link to the district article, but rather to the mountain), but in historical and archaeological sense, the area around Aleppo is all known as Mount Simeon (Jabal Sama'an). But I see your point, so I don't mind taking out the reference to Mount Simeon and replacing it with Aleppo:
  • ALT1... that the archaeological mound at Tell Aran in northern Syria is the largest tell in the Aleppo region?
  • Cheers, and thanks again for the review and the kind words! Yazan (talk) 15:02, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
Please don't forget to change it in the article too.
