Utrecht sodomy trials[edit]

Dutch anti-sodomy pamphlet, published 1731

Created by Qwertyus (talk). Self nominated at 09:22, 15 May 2013 (UTC).

Recently created, decent length, neutral and seems well-sourced (I can't read Dutch, but a quick shufti using Google Translate looks fine). No copyvio detected, talkpage is correctly tagged with {{Translated_page}}. Hook is under the word limit, interesting, neutral and cited. QPQ done, image is PD. My only concern is that the image is too detailed to render well at the tiny thumbnail size required at DYK; I'd recommend dropping it from the final edit. Yunshui  13:19, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
I replaced the image (hope that's ok) with the frontpage of a contemporary pamphlet. At this size, the word sodomie is still readable. QVVERTYVS (hm?) 14:06, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
Kind of on the fence - at that size, as an image, it doesn't really add anything. It's obvious that the article's about sodomy; having the word printed in a little box doesn't improve the reader's understanding... Yunshui  14:16, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
It might draw attention. I don't mind not having an image, though. QVVERTYVS (hm?) 14:36, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
That's true, the word "Sodomy" (or "Sodomie") in block caps does tend to catch the eye... If you aren't overly attached to it, though, I'd suggest just leaving it out. We probably do have some suitably attention-getting pictures available at Commons (just whack "sodomy" into the search there and cover your eyes), but I'm not sure they'd go down well on the Main Page...
