Usage

Use this rcat template in any namespace.
  • Use this redirect category (rcat) template on a redirect in the following manner:
Example: the article redirect Antony van Leeuwenhook consists of:
#REDIRECT [[Antonie van Leeuwenhoek]]

{{Redr|from misspelling}}
This is in accord with instructions found at Wikipedia:REDCAT.
  • Template {{This is a redirect}} may also be used to add this and up to seven appropriate rcats, along with their parameters, to a redirect. See below.
  • This template takes one unnamed (or specified as |of=) parameter that may be used to provide the correct spelling when the correct spelling is not the same as the target page's title – for example when an alternate name for the article has been misspelled. Supply the correct name as the first parameter in either of the following manners (and note that if the unnamed-parameter option is used, and the text of the correct spelling contains an equal sign, "=", then the symbol must be enclosed in curly brackets, e.g., E{{=}}mc²):
{{R from misspelling|(Correct spelling)}}
{{R from misspelling|of=(Correct spelling)}}
Example: the entry Babtist consists of:
#REDIRECT [[Baptists]]

{{Redr|from misspelling|p1=Baptist}}
(The first parameter of any rcat is covered in the {{Redr}} template by its "p#" parameter.)
{{R from misspelling|2=printworthy}}

  or simply use two pipes to make an empty first parameter:

{{R from misspelling||printworthy}}
Note 1: All redirects that are in the main (article) namespace are considered either printworthy (usable in a printed version of Wikipedia) or unprintworthy. When an untagged redirect is found, please decide its printworthiness and tag it appropriately.
Note 2: When the This is a redirect template is used, the parameters are added in the following manner:
{{Redr|from misspelling|p1=(correct spelling)|n1=printworthy}}
  • ("Redr", an alias for the "This is a redirect" template, uses an "n#" parameter for an rcat's second parameter.)
  • Examples of "printworthy misspellings" would be any redirects with possibilities, which are redirects that have potential to become articles, project pages, templates, etc. A redirect can be a misspelling of one subject and still be the correct spelling of another subject, which does not yet have an article of its own. See Jim BlytheJim Blyth.
  • Important note: When this rcat is used together with R with possibilities, the Unprintworthy category must be subdued or else the redirect will populate both the Printworthy and Unprintworthy categories.
