I took the liberty to remove 300 m from the template - this distance is almost never contested and not listed on IAAF's all time list [1]. Punkmorten 21:07, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

3000m Steeplechase[edit]

This is listed as a middle-distance event in this box, and a long-distance event in the long-distance article. Which should be altered to make it consistent?

I removed the skiing og shooting from the list. Added on the 35 lb weight throwing event. Mr. Hill (talk) 20:01, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Marathon & Half Marathon[edit]

I note that marathon is excluded from the template, presumably because it is a road race, not track race. If so, why include half marathon? If not, why not include marathon?

It appears that marathon and several other long-distance running events were omitted in error when the template was updated recently. I've fixed the problem.

Many of these events are clearly not Track events: this would be tedious for marathons and half marathons, detrimental to track surfaces for throwing events, and injury-causing for jumping events. Proposals for a rename please! Kevin McE (talk) 09:27, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Of course. Template:Athletics events would be better. —JAOTC 09:39, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
I've gone ahead and moved it seeing as this is a bit of a no-brainer. Sillyfolkboy (talk) (edits)WIKIPROJECT ATHLETICS NEEDS YOU! 14:40, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

weight throw over the bar[edit]

(Moved from User talk)

Hi. You added weight throw over the bar. Very special competition in Ireland and Scotland. Not to characterize as a commonly track and field event.Montell 74 (talk) 14:52, 24 March 2012 (UTC)

As opposed to the standing triple jump? jnestorius(talk) 19:07, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
Also very debatable. At least standing triple jump has a history in olympic games.Montell 74 (talk) 19:19, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
