Because the Batavian Naval Flag is a recognised historical Dutch flag which should be able to be called upon when using the Netherlands flagicon template when we wish to use this flag, say in an infobox. The current data page links to the Netherlands article, when many articles probably want instead to link to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The latter is the sovereign state; whereas the former is a European constituent country of the latter. Can we have an option or something in this template for it to link the the latter article? I have partially reverted this. Please see the conventions at Wikipedia:WikiProject Ships/Ensigns, where naval ensigns are to be used with Template:Navy, and not naval jacks. Not done Please read the sections above. The consensus at WP:SHIPS is to use naval ensigns not naval jacks, and the naval ensign for the Netherlands is the national flag. (Many countries are like this - see WP:WikiProject Ships/Ensigns). As for the air force flag, that is unused in icon form on Wikipedia, so there is no reason to add it to this flag template, as this is a highly-transcluded template. — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 17:02, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Remove these lines to remove flags as they are just based on the shades used in pictures in different editions of the CIA World Factbook and not are official or even real changes to the flag used by Netherlands, they should not be included and especially not linked to a specific year
There would be no errors of pages that use these files, which only a single page does, which I have tested and which auto-corrects if this would be changed
