This template needs a little modification, in particular the words "Duke of Cumberland" needs to be out next to George III's son, Ernest Augustus I of Hanover who was by far the most notorious Cumberland of them all.

The title Duke of Cumberland is probably not added next to Ernest Augustus I of Hanover as his title of King of Hanover is much higher than his ducal title and adding it would only make the template longer than it is now, possibly resulting a bit of a messy article. I've reduced the width of the template - 265 seems a bit too wide and it does take up a tad more room than it should. Also I've removed the titles from each person as leaving them dangling on the next line seemed rather messy. Craigy (talk) 21:43, Jun 13, 2005 (UTC)

Standard[edit]

The Standard that was shown was only introduced after 1801, and the crown after 1816, so cannot be shown if the template is to refer to every monarch. Maybe each article should have its own coat of arms. garryq 10:42, 14 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I agree. When George III renounced the redunant claim to the French throne, the French quartering featuring the fleurs-de-lys was dropped. The fourth quarter was then made into an escutcheon in the centre with an electoral cap to show George as Elector of Hanover, which later became a crown when he took the title of King of Hanover. I'll make different templates for each royal where the arms are different, but I think we should leave the standard with the crown on George III's page as it's the highest form of it. I see your points. But some of the images for the other standards are pretty ugly! Astrotrain 20:05, July 24, 2005 (UTC)
