The Thing[edit]

I restored The Thing from Another World to the template. That article discusses the uncertainty over who directed the film; it is clear, though, that Hawks had enormous influence on credited director Christian Nyby's actions even if the latter really did direct the film. Since the other possibility is that Hawks actually directed the film, the safest thing seems to be to list the film here. YLee (talk) 03:14, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Per The Thing from Another World main page, it appears that this is a matter of some dispute. Nyby claimed to have been the director, and Hawks always said that Nyby was the director, but most of the people involved remembered Hawks doing most of the things that a director does. Rather than start an edit war (that I would almost certainly lose - I have no clout in this community), could we discuss including The Thing with a subheading like "Producer - Uncredited Co-Director" or something like that? I think it's naïve to say that The Thing is not part of Hawks' oeuvre. Stuthehistoryguy (talk) 21:01, 9 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
