This is a template to generate links to the Internet Broadway Database. This template should be used exclusively for SHOWS.

If you need to link a person, use Template:ibdb name; for theatres, use Template:ibdb venue. If you want to link to a show that has more than one production, use Template:ibdb show.

  1. Go to IBDB.com and search for the show you want.
  2. Click on the correct link to go to the show's page. Be sure you're getting the right show.
  3. The page URL should look like http://www.ibdb.com/production.asp?ID=#####, where "#####" indicates a number.
  4. Copy ONLY that number (be sure to remove "ID=")
  5. Add to the external links section the text:
{{ibdb title|id=#####|title=Title}}

where "#####" is the number you have copied, and "Title" is the show's title.

  1. Searching for "The Producers", you'll get to this page: http://www.ibdb.com/production.asp?ID=12826
  2. Copy "12826" and then write:
{{ibdb title|id=12826|title=The Producers}}

The result is: The Producers at the Internet Broadway Database

Note that, since this will almost certainly go on the external link section, you should add a * before the template text to include it as a list item.

Ibdb show[edit]

I think this template should be changed to refer to "show" id numbers instead of "production" id numbers. Shows often have articles dedicated to them, but individual productions don't. Example: there's an article for "Into The Woods", but "Into the Woods (2002 Revival)" doesn't get a separate article. The IBDB link should therefore point to the show, and not one specific production. Bgruber

  • I agree that the show number would make more sense. I have created an Ibdb show template.--Larrybob 20:56, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
  • Also while I was at it, there was already a venue template but it's wasn't part of the category.--Larrybob 21:14, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
